My teacher kept asking me if I was okay, and sending me emails with assignments and class requirements. I thought they just forgot to take me off the list.

At the end of the semester, I received my schedule for the finals and I saw that I was still listed for the class.

In a complete panic I went to sit in on the final, not wanting to fail the class completely, yet not having any idea about the material.

Of course I failed the final and the class and my teacher offered to drop me from the course, even though it normally wasn’t allowed. I was hugely relieved, but she said she would have to require that I take it and pass it next year. I said that was fine.

How many books can you name which show more than one healthy family dynamic? TV shows? Movies? Any story ever? In how many of those families is one parent dead? What about both?

I can name a handful. Not very many, at any rate.

Yes, there will be conflict within a family, but it feels like storytellers want to make fictional families as dysfunctional as they can for that sweet sweet Drama.

I understand that for a lot of people, found family is more realistic and more comforting than healthy biological families. But you also have to recognize that your stories can have impact on the world, and there’s a lot of good that can be done by showing that families can and should be supportive, nurturing, and safe.

I have a fair amount of trauma and dysfunction in my story myself. I haven’t spoken to my dad in months despite being legally ordered to live with him (by way of divorce agreement) and he previously cut off his mom for a couple decades too. I know that family is often ugly and dysfunctional. But I will keep writing healthy families in hope that someone, anyone, learns from them that the world can be better.

imma be focusing on ursa cuz i know more about her family's history - so first of all we know that ursa has to be about 39 at the end of the 100 year war. we know this because a) the atla wiki says that ozai is 47 at the beginning of the series (making him 48 at the end of the series/the end of the war since the show is in the span of a year) and ursa is canonically 9 years younger than him (aka 39), and b) zuko is about 17 at the end of the war. there's that whole plot in the the search comics where zuko thinks ikem is his real father, and in order for that to be the slightest bit believable, ursa had to have gotten preggo with zuko in like. the first month of her marriage to ozai so people could believe it was ikem who got her pregnant. so, since she was 21 when she got married, she would have probably been 22 when zuko was born (cause you know. pregnancy lasts nine months). seventeen years later, she would be 22+17=39 years old.

the war ended in 100 AG, therefore ursa was born in 61 AG.

we don't know when her mother was born, but since roku died in 12 BG, the absolute latest she could have been born is 11 BG, if ta min was pregnant with her when she fled roku's island (which is also unrealistic cuz have you seen roku and ta min in that scene????? they were old old) so the absolute youngest that ursa's mother could have been when ursa was born is 72, which is just. not how anything works.

if ursa was canonically roku's great granddaughter, it would still be a little weird, but less unrealistic, since her mother could have been about 36 when she had ursa.

we know that azulon was born in 0 AG, and since ozai is nine years older than ursa, he was born in 52 AG. it's not too unrealistic for his father to be 52 when ozai was born, but it's still weird for azulon to have been born in 0 AG cuz sozin was already super old?????????????
