System has made proper consumers out of people, that's how it functions, capitalism conditions people into becoming gross, disgusting pigs taking pride in consuming as much as possible, like Chihiro's parents. Capitalism by design undermines values of dignity, integrity, prudence, economy and doubles down on production for maximum profit. Giant, money hungry production houses such as Disney made the blueprint of media monopoly, rapid expansion and absolute maniacal control and got rewarded by the system that was designed to encourage maximum exploitation. They managed to create perfect oink oink piggies for their benefit and consumers eat their products with both hands in the disguise of 'choice' not realizing that in the hands of capitalism, the concept of 'choice' loses its inherent meaning and is reduced to a mere buzzword for manipulative marketing. Oh well. At least it's a step forward to have realized it. Just don't give them your money or your platform.
