My favorite part about this is that in the manga, this happens before Asahi and Miyo are introduced. Not only do they not feel out of place while being in a part of the story they didn't exist in yet, the conscious decision to move this to the end of the anime shows a deep understanding of the source material and what makes it so special. I dunno if this is solely because of Michiko Yokote, but she's the writer on episodes with several of the best changes in the anime. For example, in episode 4 the segments are, in order, "Mihari is at college overnight, causing Mahiro to feel lonely," "Mahiro goes to the grocery store and meets Momiji," and "Momiji comes over to Mahiro's home and goes into her room." In the manga, the first two segments are reversed. This is fine on its own, but in the anime this order gives the sense that Mahiro's old life as a neet isn't suitable for her and she needs companionship. Also in the manga Momiji finds Mahiro's doujins by picking one off the shelf. In the anime Mahiro has a whole scene where she tries to hide all her sus merch (badly) and while the tickling is in both versions, it's only in the anime it knocks things off the shelf which causes Momiji to discover it The TL:DR we all should thank Michiko Yokote for her wonderful adaptation skills
