i was rereading the book and I noticed this exchange between Estraven and Genly near the end of the book. I'm paraphrasing but Genly says "If you ever lied to me, it was a long time ago and in another country," and Estraven is amused by this and says "In other countries, I may tell you other lies." I'm sure other people have noticed this already but that struck me as foreshadowing for the end of the book when Estraven decides to let Genly believe that trying to cross back into Orgoreyn at the contested valley was a viable option for Estraven, knowing Genly wouldn't question him until it was too late
