as a teen, i was constantly harassed by adults enforcing ''dress codes'' on me. I very much experienced this as sexual harassment. I think this is one of many cases where people would more easily understand this as sexual harassment if I described it as if it happened to an adult.
imagine being on your lunch break, and your supervisor comes over to your table, tells you to stand up in front of everyone. they draw everyone's attention to your thighs. they tell you that you have broken the dress code because of the length of your shorts. they tell you to go change (so you do not get the rest of your lunch break). they do this every single day at lunch. every day. so you read the whole dress code front and back, and you choose your clothing carefully to not break it. you bring a cloth tape measure with you to work because they will not believe you. this time when your supervisor tells you that you're breaking dress code, you pull out your tape measure and show that you are within the limit. your supervisor says "I bet you wouldn't want me to bring you to the boss and let him measure it, would you?" it's clearly a threat: if you don't obey then you will be put alone in a room with your boss and he will touch your thighs. you don't know how to respond. you're taken out of lunch again.
this was my experience at school. replace supervisor with "teacher" and boss with "principal." this was sexual harassment. fuck dress codes.
i genuinely don't think there's much, if anything, hotter than someone clearly having a blast doing something they're really good at. doesn't really matter what it is. the combo of competence and joy is absolutely lethal to me

Working an office job will truly make you have the wildest enemies, bc why is my nemesis rn a woman I’ve never met and who exclusively haunts me by sending diabolical emails, and also a specific guy who left my company before I even worked here and made the system so fuckass that it ruined procedures for like a year
Yesterday my nemesis (woman I’ve never met and whose face I’ve never seen) sent my office an email so rude, basically saying we had fucked up every project she ever ordered from us, one of the worst emails I’ve ever read in my life.
And it pissed me off so badly that I spent the ENTIRE WORK DAY today compiling evidence from every project my team has ever done for her, pulling past emails she’d sent us, putting together an entire case proving that she had been the problem all along. That she got projects mixed up, that she’d made requests that were nonsensical, literally everything you could possibly imagine. Screenshots of emails, reports we’d submitted, EVERYTHING.
This woman in particular has been terrorizing my team for years, her name is almost a slur in my office, I had simply had ENOUGH of her.
I put all of this evidence together and sent it to all of my bosses at 4:30pm. Then I took a long break to eat a sweet treat and drink some tea.
After my break, my bosses all called in an emergency meeting with me and they said they read my report and fucking loved it. And I sat on a teams call with my boss’ boss as she wrote my nemesis the scathing email I had always fantasized about sending, using the evidence I’d compiled, and hit send.
It was the most satisfying workday I’ve had since I got hired.

Ok, so my boss sent my nemesis that email, and then it was silence since we had state holidays so we were OOO for 4 days. Hence why I took a while to give an update.
For my nemesis, let’s refer to her as Laura from Pfizer (different name and different company but same gist)
The summary is: we will now charge extra for Pfizer projects from Laura, and Pfizer will also have stricter restrictions on her. Hopefully that’ll make working with her easier 🙏
I’ve also gotten questions on why exactly Laura is my nemesis, so I’ll explain that below:
We do research within the pharma industry, and companies can reach out to us to buy/sponsor that research. So they’ll ask us to research a specific medication/condition, to understand the prescription habits of doctors, the barriers to treatment, etc.
So Pfizer will tell Laura to find out X thing about Y medication/disease, and she’ll buy that research from us, which we will do correctly. We charge by project size and methodology, as per method we have different procedures, team size, third parties, etc.
But Laura must not understand our methodologies very well, so she’ll frequently buy the wrong type of project. This has catastrophic implications for us. Because when the projects are drawing to a close, Laura will reach out to us and ask for results which are not included in the methodology she ordered. So when she can’t deliver the results Pfizer asked of her, she blames US! She’ll literally slander us to her superiors and tell us we caused damages at Pfizer.
This causes financial damages to us too, because Pfizer is one of our biggest clients and names in the industry. Laura is also incredibly mean in her emails to us, to the extent some of our employees have actually cried reading them. She’s not only incompetent at her job, she’s also a bully.
And the thing is, we don’t have access to Pfizer’s internal communications, so we don’t know what they actually asked of her. Laura is our only point of contact, meaning we have to go by what she says. And her information is often wrong.
When this happens, we’ll often have to scramble to alter the fieldwork last minute, revise project timelines, reprocess our data, and so many more awful things. Our employees have had to work late countless times because of Laura, and realistically miss out on bonuses too. Merely saying her name in my office produces winces, stressed sighs, and facepalms.
Hopefully you can understand why I had enough of her, why I dedicated an entire day to take her down, and why my coworkers were willing to take on my work for the day because of it. That’s also why my bosses loved my report on Laura so much — she also causes them a lot of stress lmao. Pfizer having harsher restrictions on her means that there will be other employees reviewing her work, which hopefully means that she’ll make less mistakes when ordering research from us.
