I performed recently and the audience was very moved by it according to feedback i received afterwards, but when i went to my next voice lesson my teacher was upset with me because he felt like i didn’t do the song justice or something and frankly the whole conversation was vaguely microaggressive in a lot of ways. his critiques were wrapped in a compliment in a way that implied that he thought i wasn’t living up to my potential, and that he thinks I’m the type of singer who could tackle any genre whatsoever if i’m disciplined enough. and the issue is that i’m not, and the idea of being disciplined about music has always exhausted me. ands i’ve been feeling super weird about this all week.
