Hey! The problem with this take is that implies that Satine’s death should be accepted. Here’s the thing, both Satine and Padmé were young women with full lives of ahead of them. They they died under traumatic circumstances. Satine was murdered in cold blood. They died at very young age. And I’m tired of rationalizing the untimely death of young women in rl and in fiction. Enough is enough.

No one should be peaceful at the death of satine. We should be fucking furious. Satine was murdered and the fact no mentioned her after that is another crime. That shouldn’t turned into a a way to show how one was somehow better than the other.

Anakin fucked up. I’m not arguing that but at least he understood how wrong it’d be for Padmé – pregnant or not – do die so young. Look, I consider myself someone who has a healthy outlook on death and I refuse to ‘accept’ tragic deaths. The whole ‘mourn them, do not. miss them, do not’  advice does not work for me at all.

There’s a quite a difference between accepting the realities of life and the death (grief included), of accepting our own mortality as well as the mortality of those around us and quickly accepting tragic and untimely deaths because attachment can make you bad.

As for the whole afterlife thing, I don’t buy it. Both Anakin and Obi-wan had the same views on the death joining the force. The difference was that Anakin wasn’t ready to accept death quite as easily, and got to a point it became unhealthy. Anakin didn’t just refused to accept how/why people died, he refused to accept their very mortality as something beyond his control.

Obi-wan didn’t have a breakdown when Satine death because he had a healthier approach to death. not because he believed in something Anakin didn’t.

If the issue was only the belief in the afterlife, why is no one arguing that Yoda should’ve just accepted the death of the younglings? If it’s a simple matter of beliving you’ll be reunited with the death? Why be so devasted by their death in the first place?

It’s a double standard because Satine and Padmé are women. That’s the truth. Their lives and death are more easily used as arguments to favor a (male) fictional character when so many male deaths are still source of outraged by so many fans.

Say Obi-wan was fine with Satine death and everyone will clap at how evolved he was.

So about this project. For awhile now I’ve noticed almost every single time I see a darker skinned black woman “going viral”, she’s half naked, oiled up, and/or sexualized in some way shape or form. It’s very rarely ever “Look at this amazing dark skinned woman who accomplished this thing.” Or “Look at her smile, she’s gorgeous”.  Please don’t misinterpret what I’m saying. There is nothing wrong with darker women and black women in general being free and expressive about their sexuality and provocative features. BUT that is NOT ALL they are. They are so much more than sexual beings, but for some reason, that seems to be almost the only thing that grabs viral appreciation. So here’s my attempt to have darker skinned black women go viral for just being cute, creative, stylish, bubbly, beautiful, and black. Aside from the videographer EVERYONE involved in this project IS A BLACK WOMAN. I hope you guys like it. I ask that if you enjoyed this and agree with my objective, share it with a few people please.
