Part 19: Moria
Elanorien wasn't opposed to offering the dwarves a little aid in their reclamation of Moria, but there was clear confusion on what had happened to Balin's expedition from years before. The landscape inside the old Dwarven architecture was changed, and just as confusing as she remembered - if not more so, with some of the yrch creations she saw inside. Some outposts had already been established inside, so after helping some dwarves just inside the doors for a short time, she went further into Moria to offer what aid she could to others.
At least she wasn't the only one who didn't trust the large and empty halls, as she heard a small number of dwarves mumbling their concern with the expedition. Others seemed to recognize the dangers of Moria, especially with how entrenched many of the yrch were as she traveled deeper in.
She wasn't going to outwardly agree, but also an Elf giving too much aid might be taken as a full endorsement of what they were doing. She remembered well hearing of how the dwarves dug too deeply into Moria and unearthed a Balrog, and she was wary of it still being active. Elanorien was very certain she wouldn't be able to fight such a creature, so she only hoped it was sleeping once again and the dwarves wouldn't be too greedy in their delight of reclaiming Moria.
As it was, she decided to have a more hands off method in Moria, instead seeing if she could get away with little aid and continue on to Lórien as she originally intended, especially after her exhausting ordeal with Mordirith and Amarthiel. It was not meant to be when she traveled, especially as attitudes toward her varied between annoyance at her being there, and delight in showing off the old architecture, which she did pause to 'oo' and 'ahh' at when approached. She couldn't deny that while it wasn't as beautiful and shining as it had been the last she had been here centuries before, it still retained much of its majesty.
When she reached the Dolven-view, there were concerns about deep-claws digging and claims to be made on paths further into Moria, and most disturbingly, the symbols of the white hand she found on various yrch inside. She decided to help the dwarves with these tasks as they were on the way, and her soft heart wouldn't let her leave these tasks behind anyway. Despite her grumbling, Elanorien was no longer used to being idle.
Here we go again 🥲

Part 18: Prologue: Unwanted Detour
After watching the Fellowship leave on their secret mission and resting for a short time in Imladris, Elanorien decided to visit a friend of hers in Lórien and take a longer, well-earned rest. After saying goodbye to Elrond, she headed south to Eregion and decided to take the Redhorn Pass to avoid Moria, but found it was blocked by snow and storms, causing her to turn and head back.
She bumped into a group of dwarves that planned to head into Moria and reclaim it, and was briefly pulled into that struggle, where a creature in the water took Bróin, son of Brogur, and she was able to take a weapon of the Elder Days and challenge said creature, pushing it back into the stagnant water outside the Doors of Durin, before the dwarves made it into Moria. It seemed now she had no choice but to travel through the city that was long taken by the Enemy, one she had not visited in many a year since it was once held by the dwarves.
