genuinely I'm so sick of people wanting all fiction to be ethical. can we all just get a little gross with it. the point of fiction is that it's not real. we can be unethical in fiction; same goes with being perverted with fiction, being unrealistic with fiction, and being grotesque with fiction. not all fiction has to be ethical, not every character has to be ethical, and that's okay. can we stop with the puritanism. be gross. be unrealistic. be whatever. if I don't like it it's not my business as long as we're all clear that its fictional.

Yes there are actually 202 of them, the company sent 2 extra in the package, and I will be numbering them on the bottom with sharpie marker 1-250. This will ensure even if she manages to find all 202, she will never truly stop feeling like there might be a tiny duck somewhere unknown in the house. Lurking. Waiting to appear at the strangest time.

I meant to prank my friend by hiding hundreds of small ducks after saying I would hide small frogs, but it turns out due to some quirk of only 3 people on the entire Internet knowing what a prank is, it seems I have pranked hundreds of other people by saying I would put 100 small frogs in my friends house, when in fact the prank was that it was 202 small ducks.
an update. it has been over 4 months and they are still finding ducks

The key to a good prank, imo, is that the person you're pranking should not feel bad. They should feel delight. My friend has 2 kids. She walked in the door from her vacation, and instead of having two cranky children to deal with as soon as she got home on top of everything else, she got two children excited to run around finding small ducks. My friend knows me well enough to know that when I say weird things there's always a chance I'm not joking, and she would have said no (and been respected) if she didn't want this. The prank was never that I was hiding the toys, just which toys they were, and how many would be hidden.

human pov following objects 😭
I was watching a cast interview and walker mentioned the ipod scene in the first movie and right after aryan says that "the golden fleece from the books is a letterman jacket" (the show's is just a fleece) and this made me really think that regardless of how much the movies are deservedly clowned on, they got the "ancient greek mythology in modern times" better than the show, which doesn't even seem to be trying.
Other than mount olympus and the underworld, things are meant to look relatively normal in the contemporary world. This is a very specific for instance (and i don't even think it's a thing in the book but i might be misremembering it) but when they revealed that grover's searchers license was a physical thing I was disappointed that it was a flower. I was half expecting it to look like a driver's license, or something very innocuous, not magical looking.
Aside from gods sometimes wearing regular clothes, the show pretty much does away with this idea, which i think is very unfortunate because it's a big part of the books' charm.
The entry to the underworld is in LA bc that's hell for a new yorker (percy), and it's a crowded lobby with a grumpy receptionist. The gods have cable tv they regularly watch, monsters go undercover as teen bullys and mean teachers. I don't know if magical realism is the word for it, but I think is something akin to that that is almost completely gone, other than some highly specific props that are too famous not to be included (yankees cap, flying converse).
This has been an issue from the first season, so maybe it has been talked about before but like idk. Chopping medusa's head by looking at her reflection in an ipod is something a teen in 2010 would do, the closest we have to that in the show is like ares on twitter which, maybe I'm biased, but simply isnt as fun.
