Really wanted to try to get a nice photo of Sticky Bob.
Sticky Bob had other ideas.
Thanks Sticky Bob. These are certainly something
"Oh, Sticky Bob your belly is so round"
"I must touch it"
"Awww, you like that"
"Oh, hello Sticky Jack! You're coming to say hi?"
"That's so swee- wait"
"Don't!"
"Dangnabbit"
"Are you falling asleep?!?!"
Dogs seen at the vet
Husky shedding enough to create another husky. This may be where they come from. Further research required.
Large bully breed who did NOT want to be here. Had to be carried inside and cried the whole time.
Corgi (Pembroke) who accepted being carried with a quiet dignity. Full body wiggles when she saw the vet tech were less dignified.
Border collie mix who thought sniffing around outside meant he wouldn't have to go inside.
Very tiny black and tan terrier puppy. Speck. A mote. At risk of being inhaled if another dog sniffs too closely.
More dogs:
Happiest wiggliest boxer mix puppy trying his hardest to be a good boy and sit still. Failed when his big brother (super mutt?) came back.
BIG white fluffy dog. Samoyed? Did not know they could be that big. Very well behaved, made of cloud.
I'm so glad you got to experience A Single Molecule Of Dog. They are my all time favorite appointments and calling them a molecule never fails to make the owner laugh.
And yeah, the husky hair coalesces later and forms a litter of brand new husky puppies
My new scrungle babies
The boyo without the white feet is crazy social.
He also wants to he Tol.
Sticky Jack is looking less sticky today!
He also has a severe case of Whiskers
Sticky Bob is starting to like pets, but he's still shy and doesn't want his picture taken

44 seconds of Sticky Jack making himself at home
He sneezed in my hair again 10 seconds later.

I need someone to tell me to NOT name them Sticky Bob and Sticky Willy...
Okay. They're going to be, longterm, Sweetheart and Bobby Buttons but Sticky Jack and Sticky Bob in the meantime. Can be good nicknames if they ever get gross again because Sticky and Stinky are so similar sounding :p

I'm currently watching my SIL's foster kittens and they are the cutest little 7 week old void babies. She promised to get me me photos after she comes pick them up. They'll be available for adoption in a few weeks!!!
And watching her foster babies may have given me the foster bug so when someone brought in a 9 week old, scrungy gunky skinny URI kitten from the feral colony near his house and he couldn't keep him inside I nabbed him. I'm also going to be getting his equally social sibling tonight.
As much as I think it would be fun to have emotive anthropomorphic ears, I also recognize I can barely control my facial expressions. Like hell can I keep from Angry Ears-ing during meetings
This is who you’re having a meeting with, by the way.
a long ass day at work leaving you too drained to do fun things should be illegal, actually
it's not enough to consume the majority of my waking hours?? you must steal my brain energy as well???
right to jail
Hi, I'm curious to hear your opinion about gabapentin use to keep a cat calm for a vet visit. I've brought my (adult, healthy afaik) cat for yearly checkups twice so far: the first time she freaked out and needed several vet techs physically restraining her to get her to cooperate at all. The second time, I was able to get some liquid gabapentin in her and things went a lot more smoothly. Over the last year she has made truly amazing progress in becoming better socialized and more friendly to strangers than she used to be, and for her checkup in a couple of weeks I'm wondering if I should give her gabapentin again or go without. Is it known if being on gabapentin actually helps soothe the cat at all/make the experience less traumatic, or is it solely for the vet's benefit? As a vet, do you think I should just give her gabapentin regardless to make sure the visit goes ok, or is it worth experimenting with going without?
*vet tech. I'm similar to an RN, but for animals.
Better living through pharmacology. Please give the gaba. It is a fantastic anti-anxiety med for our kitty friends.
Sundew gets very scared at the vet, so he gets gaba before. He gets real wobbly on it, but incredibly friendly and demands love from every person who walks by. I'd much rather my cat be barely able to walk and be thrilled to be somewhere than have him walking fine and panicking.
I say this with all love, but somehow even in photos where Ruckus' coat is the right length to make him reasonably dog-shaped, there's just Something about his energy that makes him feel very Creature to me, lol

OKAY BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THE SKELETON OF A RAIN FROG? [X]
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN THEY DON’T HAVE RIBS
HUH
Yeah frogs don’t have ribs. It’s a quick way to identify the bullshit ‘info’post about the ‘correct way’ to hold a frog. They seem to constantly mention hurting their non-existent ribs.
As a vet tech very used to the skeletons of mammals and reptiles.... the extremely small number of vertebrae is rather discomfiting. But with our froggy friend I must assume this is a normal and good number of vertebrae
Hi! This came up in conversation with my sister and it occurred to me that I can ask an actual person about it.
Across your career, what kind of distribution would you estimate that you've seen of cat behavior at the vet? Is it about even across the "trying to end you and your bloodline" to "doesnt want to be here" to "happy to meet all these new friends" spectrum? Or more of a bell curve maybe? Interested to hear your thoughts!
Thank you ❤️
I'd say it's a bell curve. Most cats don't enjoy being at the vet. The majority hate disruption to their routines. The ones that love all people are not common, but not rare either and they are always such a delight to get to meet. The ones that actively try to end you are thankfully fairly uncommon... in part because the owners rarely bring them in.
