I keep seeing this picture and similar ones and it keeps giving me thoughts. Yeah I do agree with the message ! And these animals are hated by many peoole !! But let's be honest. These are still fairly conventionally cute. They're big eyed fluffy affectionate pretty intelligent mammals and birds. So today, I'm offering y'all my own version.
BE NICE TO ALL ANIMALS. INCLUDING THE ONES WHO DON'T LIKE BEING PET. INCLUDING THE ONES THAT AREN'T FLUFFY. INCLUDING THE ONES YOU FIND UGLY. Be nice to the weird ass critters too >:)

More people need to get into bugs. Like no joke, learning to identify various insects and arachnids has helped me reprogram my gut response from fear to fascination. Especially when it comes to ones under conservation.
I escorted a Large Heath butterfly that got stuck in the house and it was gorgeous.
Stop doomscrolling and look at this fat sleepy carpenter bee please

I think that part of what irks me about AI being used even for "small" stuff like meme graphics (aside from all the larger problems obviously) is like.... the time spent on it was part of the humor. "this is a silly inconsequential joke but I had to stop everything and spend 5 minutes making it" was, at least for me, part of the joke. Someone really took time out of their day to make me look at something silly they took time out of their day to make. Now it's like someone took time out of my day to make me look at something no one even made. Stop wasting my time if you aren't wasting yours too.
Speaking as a childhood Harry Potter fan, the enduring persistence of its popularity including amongst adults is 100% because it is slop without substance.
It flirts with the idea of rebellion and emancipation from slavery but ultimately discredits those notions by having the rebel leader become a lead cop in the institution that was repressing him and by making emancipation seem silly.
It reflects the chauvinisms of a British aristocrat who offers an impossible narrative of an abused child escaping abuse through the purity of their Aryan magic blood. It’s a fantasy that doesn’t even pretend to offer catharsis or self-actualization, merely hundreds of pages of occasionally racist drivel about a special little boy who joins the SS after reforming them from the inside.
That’s why it has maintained such reverence - because it doesn’t actually offer a subversive story but the aesthetic of one while reflecting the conservative biases of the author. It speaks to a certain liberal perspective that is progressive only so far as the oppressed don’t hurt their feelings.
We have so little time
let's waste as much of it as we can while we still can
so i accidentally took my sleeping pill twice yesterday out of pure absent mindedness. i had a great night’s sleep. however, i wake up this morning to find this in my notes app with absolutely no recollection of how it got there or what the fuck i was doing:
every day the stuff i buy keeps accidentally costing money

I know these two are the same photo but I liked both of them even tho it’s only a SLIGHT change.
Hi I think you’re really pretty so I drew you
THIS IS SO COOL WHAAAT
Words from Clarice Lispector in The Hour of the Star
Insane that canned beans have a 5 star health rating. Baked beans have a 4.5 star rating. I cannot get over this. Beans are like junk food to me. They should be 2, 2.5 if they're lucky. Almost cheating for a food so easy and delicious to be in the top star range.
I'm putting beans and tomatoes and all my favourite spices in a big ole pot and this is somehow healthy. That's nuts.
I am baffled. what health rating are you looking at? canned beans are a good source of protein and fiber, but they can have shockingly high levels of daily sodium. I'm not saying don't eat canned beans, and levels can be very different depending on the company/bean type, but like, let's take a few samples:
Heinz Beans with Tomato sauce, 14% of daily value of sodium per serving, 42% per can Bush's Best Pinto Beans, 20% of daily value of sodium per serving, 70% per can Bush's Best Original Baked Beans, 47% of daily value per can (which is 1 cup) Great Value Black Beans, 6% of daily value of sodium per serving, 21% per can Goya Black Beans, 18% of daily value of sodium per serving, 63% per can S&W White Beans, 20% of daily value of sodium per serving, 70% per can
salt is great for preservation, so it makes sense you tend to have a lot in canned foods (also, it tastes good, so...). but just keep in mind it can be a LOT of sodium for one can
I am looking at the health rating printed on the cans.
Baked beans: 4 (not 4.5, I misread the label)
Plain beans: 5
The health rating is a relative rating to other foods assessed and sold in supermarkets. A 5 doesn't mean that the food has no problems ever. It means that it's one of the healthiest individual items assessed and sold in supermarkets.
They just don’t release the hounds like they used to
in my day someone just let the dogs out. never did know who.
