This is it, the best news story (from BBC news):
Ok, so here is the croissant that started all this mess:
When asked about what kind of animal might it be, the woman said: "It's this, oh, what is it called... A lagun!"
The devil works fast, but The Krakow Animal Welfare Society works faster:
They already made a merchandise with an illustration of the lagun - they posted information about it on Facebook on Tuesday evening and by the Wednesday morning everything was already sold out.
My university professors are so delighted about this story that they are writing tons and tons of limericks, moskaliks and lepiejs (those two last genres are very popular, ridiculous and humorous types of short poems, in last decades popularized by WisÅawa Szymborska) and posting them on official Facebook pages of our university departments, and I am dying of laughter.
Important update on the story: owners of cafés and bakeries in Kraków realized that this wonderful idiocy that took over the country could bring them profit and help animals, and started selling croissants labeled as laguns: i.e. Massolit Café & Bakery is sending 10% of income from selling laguns to the Krakow Animal Welfare Society. Thankfully laguns are selling like hotcakes and bakeries don't plan to stop making them, so the story that started and could quickly die as just another seasonal nonsense transformed into a tool for helping small, helpless, vulnerable creatures, far less dangerous than vicious lagun.
This is how cyptids get started.
Apparently, this is a lagun?
So yeah, I can see it.

Meet Jirell Thorne: Rook, Grey Warden, and Guardian of the Veil.
THE CASUALNESS OF THAT COLLIE SLIPPING RIGHT OUT OF THEIR COLLAR. That dude is a Willing Participant of this walk and by god everyone else is going to follow the RULES.
im a fan of the moment where the husky is like 'wait you're not authorized to do that' and the collie is like 'THE FUCK IM NOT'
unstoppable force (border collie) vs immovable object (husky)
don't ever understimate a herding dog's determination to KEEP EVERYONE TOGETHER SO HELP ME GOD
Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.
Some of you may remember that I took a Tumblr hiatus back when DA: Inquisition was released. In theory I came back from that hiatus, but in practice the habit of checking the site had been broken, and I never really rejoined the community.
A loooooot has happened since then, and I can't even properly remember what I've shared here. The short version is that things are personally pretty good -- still married, still living in San Francisco (over 25 years in one home), lost one cat in January '23 and welcomed two kittens that October. In less good news, I was recently laid off by my government-contractor employer (more details on my DW). Fortunately, our savings are in very good shape, so I can consider this an unexpected sabbatical and take my time to start job-hunting again.
On the fandom side of life, I've basically dropped off the face of the earth -- I haven't written any fic in a couple of years, and been out of the community almost completely. I miss it all, very much, but I'm not entirely sure how to come back. Let's start here: T and I finally finished DA: Veilguard last week, and I wrote up my thoughts on DW. Would be happy to hear other opinions and get pointers to fanwork and commentary! Not sure when I will replay, so feel free to spoil for other outcomes and pathways -- I have no illusions of spoiler-free replays here. In other fandoms, I've kept up with Critical Role but fallen out of Marvel almost entirely -- too much content, too much of it mediocre or uninspiring. Probably my biggest new discovery is Baldur's Gate 3 (I'm sorry to have missed that train when it was new). I'm slowly working on my first replay and plan on doing a Dark Urge run next.
There is more I could say but this makes a good start. I make no promises -- I've tried to come back before and failed -- but let's give it a go.
online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.
i just learned that british photographer harry pointer made a lot of captioned photographs of cats in various situations in the late 19th century

Heās helping.
Iām a cat enthusiast and i can tell you, the kitty is actually trying to help! (or just trying to figure out what humane is doing by also touching it)
Cats like to mimic what other members if their cat groups are doing. In human enviroments, this translates to cats following humans (who they see as part of their group) and trying to mimic activities they are doing.
Human sits on couch? Cat sit with them! Human reading or on their computer? Cat go after human and sprawl over them or the keyboard because cat do the same! Human eating? Cat also want eat! Human touch spining clay and make weird shapes? Cat also do that! Cat help!
