today I found out my mother doesnât know what dandelions are and now Iâm wondering what other strange secrets sheâs been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you donât have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
sheâs aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i donât think so? iâm southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
Theyâre marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
âŚ.we need to start taking the phrase âgo touch grassâ more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
tbf daffodils are called easter lillies in Dutch.

This sick bleach shirt I made. Something to showcase my undying love for prehistoric cave art.
Some of the bleach burned thru the shirt bc this was my first time bleaching anything ever, but it kinda adds to it.

Where's that tweet about how American chants are "let's go [team name] and some other country (Irish?) fans are "I've made up a song about the other team's drinking problem to the tune of London Bridge Is Falling Down one two three"?
114 years on, Belfast witnesses an incredible full-scale drone Titanic depart into the night once more.
Minute by minute - the night the unsinkable ship sank. Vivid first-hand accounts from passengers and crew tell the story of the most infamous disaster in maritime history.
A ârecreationâ of the RMS Titanic, staged in Belfast harbour through the use a âflotillaâ of almost 1,000 drones, marks the arrival of BBCâs Made Of Here campaign in Northern Ireland.
The BBCâs Made Of Here campaign is a tribute to the hometowns and cities across the UK which have inspired some of the BBCâs most iconic TV shows and characters. Titles set to feature in the campaign include the hit drama series Blue Lights, which is currently filming in Belfast, Line Of Duty, which will soon commence production in Northern Ireland, Hope Street and the award-winning comedy series Funboys.
Titanic Sinks Tonight, which originally aired in December 2025, has become the BBCâs biggest history documentary of 2025/26 so far, with an audience of more than two million viewers across the UK and almost half of viewers watching on BBC iPlayer. The docu-drama used personal testimony taken from letters, interviews, personal memoirs and the accounts of public enquiries to tell the story of the sinking of the Titanic, minute by minute, from the moment it hit the iceberg to the moment it disappeared below the surface of the ocean.
The drone display, which took place on Monday 30 March using 950 drones, will be broadcast to audiences as part of a Made Of Here film on BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC Two Northern Ireland on Thursday 2 April at 8pm, after EastEnders â the same time and date the Titanic set sail from Belfast in 1912.

Anyway adults saying âI donât know isnât an answerâ is part of the reason I learned to lie and bluff so well.
Really though, what was that about? I donât know is a valid answer. It communicates very clearly that the child cannot answer your question, and therefore maybe needs more help understanding the question/situation. Why do you try and push them to give an answer they donât have? That stresses them out and it makes them feel like theyâre being punished for not knowing something.
i thought i was the only one with an âi donât knowâ problem because my parents made it seem it was the strangest and also most horrible thing in the world. i genuinely didnât know and they got angry and that only blocked my thoughts more which meant i didnât know the answer to anything else.
THIS ^^^
Also âI donât knowâ is a commonly used sentence for children with ADHD/Autism. We DONâT know why we canât do our homework. We DONâT know why we canât eat certain foods sometimes. We DONâT know why we forgot to do a chore. Itâs really distressing when you genuinely donât know and people think youâre just lying or indifferent
Even as an adult with ADHD and Autism I still donât know the the answers to many questions, Iâd love to know, but I donât
