the thing about the one piece adaptation is that it doesn’t take itself seriously in the sense of trying to make things more realistic or grounded or grimdark but it DOES take itself seriously in the sense of everyone putting their whole pussy into treating cwazy hair stupid weapon silly name world as the reality the characters are in and one that has real emotional stakes and it kind of rules

#huge grain of salt that I haven’t read/watched the original but I do find the live action utterly delightful #like soooo many adaptations have failed because they think there’s no way to translate that to live action that doesn’t feel ridiculous #but opla said YES it’s ridiculous YES he has green hair and a mouth sword and is learning about the power of friendship but that’s his LIFE #which makes a super fun campy vibe #one piece #opla #opla season 2
