The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture of a robed and crowned woman on Liberty Island, part of New York City, in New York Harbor.

The copper-clad statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (1834 –1904) and its metal framework built by Gustave Eiffel (1832–1923).
