Attention all cuddly "I like your personal space too" people! I genuinely need your help here.
As an anxiety-ridden, possibly autistic, definitely adhd and all around "please do not hug me" person, I gotta know how you do it. Because I'm so fucking touch starved and I want to be able to hug or platonically cuddle my friends - shit I would be happy with just being able to sit close to them and feel comfortable.
Every time I am physically close to someone my whole body says "No you're smelly!!" Or "they don't want you near them like that." If I hug someone I obsess about it for days or weeks - "was i smelly?" "Did i hang on for too long?" "Did I put my arms in the right position?" Anyway I need that to stop so..
Like how do you do that? Is it comfortable for you? Are you not afraid of hurting someone or like being too close to someone for their comfort? (I'm not insinuating that you are or do, I'm genuinely asking). Is that something you don't think about? Do you really have to know the person to get up in their space?
I really want to know so I can be a normal person. Any tips would be appreciated. Or if you're like me, feel free to commiserate. I like company.
P.S. I doubt I'm actually smelly. I shower daily and wear clean clothes but thats like a huge Thingâ˘ď¸ with my anxiety.
