To paraphrase: Stargate had cumulative worldbuilding, with no need for a character knowing nothing and needing exposition so the viewer can be brought up to speed. The humans in the series are the view point, they and we learn things as they happen. And standalone episodes slot perfectly into the various overarching plot lines.

the minute you say a number your readers can check your math and you cannot do math better than your most autistic critic. i guarantee. don't let your readers do any math. when did something happen? awhile ago. how many bullets can that gun fire? trick question, it shoots lasers, and it shoots em HARD.
