Steve had no idea that when Matt began to befriend him and his mate that there was an ulterior motive behind it. Matt was Steve’s next assignment instructed by his Handler.
Steve subtly ‘muscled in’ on the close friendship Matt had had since primary school, as Steve needed to implement the ‘divide and conquer’ strategy to achieve his goals.
Soon, Matt was spending more time with Steve without the friend, as Steve gained Matt’s trust and worked through the stages of the Handbook’s indoctrination processes.
A few days alone with Steve, and Matt was smoking Marlboro as Steve built on his growing influence. From the couple of cigarettes a day, to a developing addiction where Matt was smoking through the day… it took only a few weeks.
Instigating the fetishisisation of Marlboro is always a deeply rewarding stage for a recruiter, and Steve was no exception. The mind is opened up to introducing ritualistic aspects, with Marlboro increasingly becoming the central focus of basic urges.
Daily sessions ensured progress was made according to Handbook instructions, and within 8 weeks of first contact Steve fulfilled his mission. Matt had achieved a level of addiction and obsession for Marlboro for him to be ready for initiation into the Marlboro Youth Club (MYC). His future as a dedicated asset for the Cult and Corporation was firmly established.
