There's a swear! And it's not bleeped! In the RQG Bite Marks special! I'm shook! Also because it's Alex that just audaciously swears because he believes it'll just get bleeped, but it wasn't! This is hilarious! (Timestamp 0:30:00-0:30:04)
"Fucking gorgeous!" That is something that needs to be declared as such though, to be fair.

just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
There's also a new (I guess) opt-out for sharing your data with third-party something-or-others under Account > Visibility.
I need to clarify though: I don't actually know if I understand this feature correctly, bc I also can't find it on the tumblr help page, possibly because of my language settings. Does anyone know more about this?
What is this? Is tumblr sharing posts for AI trainings? I remember there was some talk about that a while ago but I didn't know that there was an opt-out.
This is off by default, so to opt-out you have to go into Settings/Account > Visibility > uncheck the last entry
But the description on the tumblr help page doesn't actually say anything about AI or "Content and Research Partners"; is this option not discussed there? I can only find details about disabling the "yourblogname[.]tumblr[.]com" and post archive (yourblogname.tumblr.com/archive), but that seems to be a different thing thankfully.
Maybe I'm confused because I'm unable to set my app to English, but I don't know what is going on here. Does anyone have any insights?
If you're someone who wants to be able to find (or avoid) ships while reading on AO3, odds are good that a fan coder out there has created a user script that could help you out.
User scripts are similar to extensions. You add them to your browser to automatically adjust web pages for you. User scripts allow you the opportunity to personalize them, however, which is wonderful for things like AO3 filters.
Here are a few that might be worth a look:
AO3 multishipper saviour - if you want to read about a particular character in a relationship without specifying any other person. The relationships can be specified to be romantic or platonic or both.
AO3: Reorder Ship Tags - Automatically reorders relationship tags on work blurbs so romantic ships (/) always appear before platonic ships (&).
AO3 Relationship/Character Highlighter - highlights the ship/character you’re looking for if they appear in the first two relationship/character tags.
AO3 romantic relationship savior - hides all romantic relationships in sort & filter page that has "/"
AO3 First Relationship Tag Filter - toggle on the script if you're browsing a relationship tag and all the works that don't have that tag as their first tag will be hidden. Works on both romantic (/) and platonic (&) relationships.
AO3 relationship savior - hides works that have too many relationships in them.
AO3 Only Show Primary Pairing - will hide fics that don't have the designated pairing listed first in the tags.
AO3 Only Show Primary Pairing (Auto) - The difference between this and Neeve's script is that it automatically detects the primary pairing, little to no configuration needed.
AO3 Show every pairing except THAT one - Remove relationship tags from script which you do not want to read.
If you want to save your filters, there are two ways to go about it.
If you do the same search/filter every time, just bookmark the results page with your browser. The URL contains all of your filters, so every time to visit that URL, you'll get the pre-filtered, updated results.
If you use the same filters on different searches (e.g. always filter out Character Death in every fandom), then you can use a bookmarklet to run your filters for you. Instructions on how to set it up can be found here.

Hot take: there is no valid reason that official government ID should have either a sec or gender marker on it. First name, last name, dob + up to date image will suffice. Address, if relevant.
I'm always confused by why people seem to think that there is some sort of Penis Emergency that will kill you if paramedics perform the Vagina Procedure on your fully clothed body.
Hospital spoilers btw: blood isn't sorted by sex, it's sorted by type. The sex of the blood donor doesn't factor in at all when receiving a transfusion, and you will not be harmed by receiving blood from a donor whose sex is different than yours. Saying this because it's another misconception that I've heard.
if you're unconscious at the hospital and they need to operate and insert a catheter in your urethra, don't worry! they'll figure out if you have a penis or a vagina without having to look at a laminated card in your wallet
I think this is one of those things where folks are so used to it that they just sort of assume there must be a good reason for it. But the only reason for your sex to be on your ID is if your legal rights differ based on your sex. Like, it would be important for your ID to say F or M if, for instance, one of those categories was allowed to open a bank account but the other one wasn't. But as far as I can tell, we have mostly decided that legal rights should pertain to everyone. Which means that sex documentation really is just a throwback to a time when women were not considered full legal persons and therefore their legal status had to be officially displayed on their ID in order to maintain that distinction.
Honestly, the only major thing I can think of that still strictly legally requires sex distinction is the military draft. Which, A) still doesn't require sex be recorded on your drivers license, B) could be made sex-neutral, or C) could be abolished instead.
It took me half a year and two relistens but I finally finished timestamping this! I've also added some annotations cause this took up a decent chunk of my life and I think I deserve to give my little comments as a treat (and also cause I found some fun stuff in the transcripts while looking for these). Outtakes aren't in the transcripts, so all of those were a special little hell for me to find.
Episode names with a * next to them mean that they're from that episode's outtakes.
Start-00:22 (RQG 81 - Breakfast with Dessert)
This soundclip lowkey drove me insane. I knew that it was from the group's journey across Newton's office, but Hamid's "I don't recognize this, which opera's it from?" is miswritten in the transcript so cntrl-f couldn't find it and everyone's singing is literally written out as "do do do do do" so cntrl-f was useless for that too. I ended up just listening to those couple of episodes on 2x speed until I found this clip...
00:22-00:26 (RQG 214 - Guivres)
00:26-00:39 (RQG 41 - Chariots and Catacombs)
00:39-00:43 (RQG 34 - Le Gai Paris!)
00:43-00:57 (RQG 106 - Special Delivery)
00:57-01:03 (RQG 211 - The Writer's Tale)
01:03-01:05 (RQG 136 - Trouble at the Top*)
They're talking about fanart someone did of Grizzop where they 1) made him sexy (of course) and 2) gave him Ben's hair (why). I'm not sure if this is the exact fanart they were referencing here, but it is indeed cursed
01:05-01:12 (RQG 35 - The Exposition Box)
01:12-01:18 (RQG 38 - Brutor Is...)
01:18-01:20 (RQG 110 - Cracking Up)
01:20-01:27 (RQG Into the Wilds pt. 2)
They're talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger
01:27-01:44 (RQG 41 - Chariots and Catacombs)
01:44-01:46 (RQG 74 - Upstairs Downstairs)
01:46-01:48 (RQG 137 - Lightning Round*)
Ben uses his Elias voice for crimes
01:48-02:11 (RQG 153 - The Chatter Box)
02:11-02:16 (RQG 93 - The Curse!!!)
Ben's "A what?" sounded so much like his Zolf voice that I kept going through the Paris arc trying to find this clip, only to realize during a relisten that it was an entirely different arc that didn't even have Zolf in it. Also, the number of exclamation marks in the title is different between the episode listing on Spotify and the transcript header
02:16-02:21 (RQG 34 - Le Gai Paris!)
02:21-02:23 (RQG 136 - Trouble at the Top)
02:23-02:45 (RQG 48 - Ctrl Alt Destroy!*)
02:45-03:00 (RQG 110 - Cracking Up)
In between this clip and the previous pump hole one, Alex mentions that Ben's been saying "pump hole" a lot outside of recording. Why we'll never know. Also, here's the full pump hole bit from that episode
03:00-03:15 (RQG 211- The Writer's Tale)
03:15-03:19 (RQG 74 - Upstairs Downstairs)
03:19-03:27 (RQG 100 - Disappearing Act)
03:27-03:33 (RQG 214 - Guivres)
I forgot how funny the finale was
03:33-03:42 (RQG 93 - The Curse!!!)
03:42-03:45 (RQG Post-Campaign Q&A pt. 1)
This is about Grizzop
03:45-04:08 (RQG Into the Wilds pt. 3)
04:08-04:14 (RQG 41 - Chariots and Catacombs)
04:14-04:17 (RQG 93 - The Curse!!!)
04:17-04:26 (RQG 110 - Cracking Up)
This is another clip that took me absolutely forever to find. I literally ctrl-f'd "erotic" and "sexy" for every single episode and still couldn't find this until a relisten. Also, it's from a section where they're discussing what new stuff they got from leveling up, and is immediately preceded by Ben telling Bryn, "Oh, sorry - shh, shut up, it's still Ben Time!"
04:26-04:34 (RQG 106 - Special Delivery)
04:34-04:41 (RQG 46 - Theseus' Ship)
After listening to the show so many times I honestly forgot how ridiculous Mr. Ceiling's name was at first
04:41-04:44 (RQG 61 - Skyships and Harlequins)
Fun fact: Bryn's "No!" is so high-pitched that it's misattributed to Lydia in the transcripts
04:44-05:15 (RQG 110 - Cracking Up)
05:15-05:20 (RQG 212 - Final Rest)
05:20-05:41 (RQG 40 - Wheels Within Wheels)
05:41-05:54 (RQG 91 - Can't We All Just Get Along*)
05:54-06:00 (RQG 217 - Last Stand)
06:00-06:17 (RQG 123 - Plane and Simple)
06:17-06:24 (Metacast 7: Longplay)
Helen's cut-off line at the end there is, "Let's not go there because remember that time he shaved it off and we were all like, 'UGHAHUHAHUUU!'"
This was the last clip I found. The surprisingly high number of encounters with oozes and goos and the fact that Bryn's line doesn't really have any words that are easy for me to ctrl-f efficiently meant I just had to catch this on a relisten. Also, this is, of course, about Zolf's nudity
07:13-07:41 (RQG 141 - All the Way Down)
Here's the full clip for this (really, it just includes Bryn saying, "I bless the rains down in Africa," in his best Elias impersonation)
07:41-07:47 (RQG 110 - Cracking Up)
07:47-07:57 (RQG 209 - Shades of Red)
07:57-08:03 (RQG 218 - Erasing the Line)
08:03-08:14 (RQG 217 - Last Stand)
Helen calling Ben and Alex by their full names when she's upset with them is one of my favorite bits
I feel like people think "YA" is for kids and teenagers, but it literally stands for "Young Adult." Adult. Not teen/pre-teen.
--
Do you also think prairie oysters are actual oysters?
Do bronies mean that MLP is now for adult men?
Come the fuck on!
--
Yes, in some social science contexts, "young adult" is apparently used to refer to adults younger than middle age, but in common parlance, it refers to teenagers, and in a literary context, it refers to books aimed at the 12-18 demographic.
I don't like YA, but I do like middle grade. I read books for children. If you are too insecure to read books for children, there's a whole world of regular old fiction out there. Some of it is even in fucking present tense if that's the sticking point.

Fallen London is an online text adventure; a Victorian gaslight fantasy with horror in its bones and romance laced throughout its meat. Also it's funny.
You might have seen our gender selection text doing the rounds on here:
It's more than 4.5 million words long, and as such defies summary. However, it's broken down into morsels small enough that you won't choke.
It's playable for free on anything that can open a web browser. There are no ads and no installs. It's not possible to infinitely scroll it; you get some actions, spend them, and then are released to go and think about what you've done.
It has been developed over 16 years without the use of AI. (Anything with incorrect fingers is like that on purpose.)
they are sexually mature at ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS OLD.
their (live!) young gestate for. wait for it. eight to eighteen (??) YEARS. can have up to 10 at a time. good grief.
longest lifespan of any vertebrate, up to five hundred years
toxic flesh
has giant eyes but is usually blind because of a weird little crustacean that's evolved to live on and eat their eyes. this doesn't seem to bother them much.
lives in deep cold water and has the lowest swim speed and tail-beat frequency for its size across all fish species. just generally lives life in extreme slow motion
largest genome of any shark
eats everything including moose and polar bears
ma'am you are delightfully strange and I'm privileged to share a planet with you
If you answered "Yes," to one or more of these questions, I would like to inform you that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is available to watch for free on the Gundam YouTube channel, in both English and Japanese.
