He excite.
You think? http://news.usaunify.org/TTb9rf
So I do 3D modeling and printing as a hobby, and a few weeks ago I designed wheel guards meant to prevent office chairs from running over cables and clothes... or your pet's tail.
I got the idea from cowcatchers old locomotives used to have.
Anyways, yesterday I uploaded the model to Thingiverse, and just hours after uploading it, the Community Relationship Manager of the whole website left a comment suggesting I enter the model into a competition that's currently being held on the site.
So I did... and now it's in third place not even a day later. First place is $500, but the competition still has a month to go.
Then the Community Manager contacted me again, telling me they want to feature my model in an upcoming design promotion.
Just, what is happening? I mostly made this thing for myself in, like, an hour, and now it's suddenly super popular? This is all a little bit overwhelming 😵💫
Other models I worked on for weeks didn't get nearly as popular. I swear, it's impossible to predict what people will like.
Anyways, if you want to print the wheel guards yourself, you can get the model here or here.
I also made a quiet version you can stick furniture felt pads on.
People love simple, extremely practical things. I hope you win!
One thing I always admired about Magic over, say, Yugioh is their adherence to their own rules.
We often see in Mark Rosewater's asks someone asking about why they don't print a card that does this or that, and he'll say it's because the rules don't allow it. And I respect that, it means the rules actually have meaning. Whereas in Yugioh, they'll print some nonsense and release an errata saying "it works the way we say it does."
Anyway, here's Rulebreaker because rules are for losers just do whatever you frikken want.
For the record, I realize that this card makes sense. Sort of. It's worded a little vaguely and I'm sure we'll get clarification.
But that's not what I'm talking about. What this card does literally doesn't matter. What matters is it shows they're willing to write exceptions to their own rules, and that's what bugs me. Because I've seen where this can lead.
They say there will be eight of these Rulebreakers. Is it really a big deal? No. These specific decks can fudge the rules in these specific ways. For now.
Gang, I don't know how to explain this, but to me there's a difference between cards that "change the rules" for themselves and cards that WotC might print to change the structure of the game or deckbuilding. This is not Relentless Rats. This is not Prismatic Piper.
Even then, to me there's a difference between adding something to the game that wasn't there before (ie. Companion), and changing what's already established (ie. hybrid mana doesn't count any more) (which thankfully didn't happen).
I guess color identity is just something that is integral to Commander at the most basic level to me, and to see them weaken that makes me worry.
Like, I don't even think this card is all that good. It won't be a problem. It's the principle of it.
it feels the same way as when they decided stickers were legal in Commander, and since the Commander Committee is now Officially Hasbro, it means the Official Rules of the Game say you have to let people play with the stickers.

I always thought Reddit was a place where people could share things they created.A few days ago I posted one of my original paintings. People loved it. We had wonderful conversations about art, emotions, and how everyone saw something different in the same sunset.
About two hours later I was permanently banned from r/MadeMeSmile for “self-promotion.”
I accepted that different communities have different rules. But then something even stranger happened.Soon afterward, a moderator from r/pics started going through my account. Not just the new post—many of my older painting posts disappeared as well. One after another. Then I was permanently banned there too.
Maybe it was the same moderator. Maybe it wasn’t. I honestly don’t know.
What surprised me wasn’t even the ban itself. It was realizing how much power individual moderators have over what millions of people are allowed to see. One decision can erase years of posts from a community and instantly cut off your ability to participate, even if those posts had been happily sitting there for months or years.I’m not saying moderators shouldn’t have rules. Communities need moderation. But it does make you wonder where the line is between protecting a community and allowing a single interpretation of the rules to completely reshape what people can share.
The funny part?
I wasn’t advertising anything in those posts. I wasn’t posting prices or asking anyone to buy anything. I was simply sharing my original paintings because I enjoy discussing art with strangers from around the world.
Anyway…
Here’s the painting that apparently caused all the trouble. 🎨
The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
A humble snubnose eelpout on its way to the whale fall buffet when some nearby humans give it a quick, unintrusive study:
I put this in the comments but feel it needs a reblog- Check out some of Dr Edith Widder’s work on light in the deep sea! Among other things, she used the bioluminescence of stoplight fish to deduce wavelengths which most deep sea animals can’t perceive and used that to create light filters to be able to film with minimal disturbance! And that’s how we got 25 minutes of giant squid footage!!!!

may every trans person on this hellsite find contentment in their identity
may they always have friends that love and support them and may they always find something to appreciate in every day
may they live long and fulfilling lives
may they be happy
may you be happy.
also while im thinking about it
people have to write "bad" fan fiction in order to write "good" fan fiction. and people have a right to post their "bad" fan fiction on ao3 because it is an archive, not a bookstore. and people writing "bad" fan fiction are just as entitled to comments and encouragement as any other author
protect "bad" fan fiction

Tears in my eyes I have been waiting for this day
Devices that believe three minutes means something different than objective reality would say it does:
Clothes dryer
The bus
me: *opens a pack of Duel Monsters cards* Me: FUCK Me: not blue eyes ultimate dragon AGAIN
"In Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, this is actually encouraged; because the world economy emphasizes constant consumption and production, the Controllers will only approve new sports or games if their creators can prove that playing it requires the consumption of more resources than currently-existing ones."
I still have tons of Biker Mice art in my queue so I might as well make a new one and work my way from here.

AAA video game publisher voice: "Look. The goose layed a golden egg, and that's nice! Everyone loved that egg. But keeping the golden goose means paying for bird feed and I don't want to, so I killed the goose."
I rly liked the goat movie... especially these three.
