you can do a similar things with clothes. if you buy something you don't really love just because it's cheaper, you might get one or two wears out of it for $15 so it's 7.50 per wear. Or, save up and buy the $50 pants that you'll wear twice a week as long as they hold together, and you're down to a few cents per wear.
