The difference between "There used to be hot summers too,” and a climate crisis.
Look, we all know this is true. But there isn't a SOURCE for this, and the graph itself is basically illegible beyond "ooh colors". If we want to be good stewards of our informational resources, we need to cite our sources.
From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:
All clearly show a sharp rise in temperature beginning around approximately the 1980s, which corresponds with the graph in OP's post. But now we know where this data came from, and we can verify its validity accordingly.

can i be real with you i'm gonna start biting people
the following diagram illustrates that if i had a fluffy bunny tail, or floppy bunny ears, or perhaps both, i would fidget even more at bus stops than i already do links/ store
there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well
and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it
source another source
the researchers found that being online didnt make people more hostile, but that being online allowed already hostile people to dominate forum conversations, and the less aggressive people were much less likely to reply or engage, ending in just the aggressive people bickering at eachother
Thereby disproving Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory.
I will say, thank you for saying you're not into incest shit, cause like, it sucks how hard it is to find NSFW artists who don't do that shit. I lost a lot of respect for one creator saying she was wanting to draw some as a take-that to the censorship laws.
I hate how normalized it is in that scene, not out of visceral disgust but because I think it creates a genuine environment that causes legit harm and also sucks ass on even a purely narrative level, even if I think the state shouldn't censor it and callout culture isn't a very good tool for pushing against it (and might be making that shit worse IMO)
Ik I shouldn't but I do want to be fully transparent with folks even if it means some reputational harm. I do not like incest but I don't think incest art made by queer people is driving real world harm. I think there's conversations to be had about what each individual person gets out of the kinks they engage with and what it might say about them as a person. As well as broader communities that might form out of a fixation on certain kinks and what those may look like and if they're acting in a way to mitigate harm to the members of it. But I think generalisations like this just create wedges for reactionary crackdowns on all queer art.
curious to see what your deeper thoughts will be on the first 1/3 of wall-e will be versus the last 2/3 of wall-e if you're including pixar in your djsney watch through.
i've already done a separate pixar watchthrough with patty, wall-e is pretty good. the fatphobia/ableism wasn't as in your face as i remember it being. it's def worth criticizing but most of it is contained in like, the credits sequence.

“our age of bronze is collapsing” is this beautiful random burst of monty python dialogue amidst the drudgery of nolan’s vision and i think it should win the first-ever oscar for best solitary line
