"The scoreboard? You like it? Hacked it into your visor cover the last time you took a snooze."
Drawing Rocket wearing dresses makes me so happyyyyy I love him so much
Enjoyyy!
Can this poor guy catch a break? I gotta hug him. â¤ď¸
Been thinking about Rocketâs cybernetics lately, and how he probably has to make adjustments to his clothes so that nothing abrasive rubs up against the metal in his back. I imagine that all of his jumpsuits probably have extra padding back there. I wonder how they affect him in different temperatures too, like if they ache more in the cold. Or do they ever get hot? Some clothes I have with metal buttons heat up in the sun and it feels hot to the touch. Since the implants are metal would the same thing happen? Also would he avoid lying down on his back because it would put pressure on them? I feel like they probably hurt him pretty often, but itâs something that heâs lived with for so long that he almost pays no mind to it unless he gets a particularly bad flare up.Â
I canât remember now if we see it on the Nova Corps body scan or not, but are the visible implants more surface level or are they actually connected directly to his skeleton/muscles? Iâm guessing the back implants are part of how his skeleton was rebuilt to stand upright and how his spineâs shape was changed and his shoulders were broadened.Â
I headcanon that heâs had to perform maintenance on his cybernetics, including self-surgery. I was talking about this with someone else on Tumblr a while ago and the one thing we ran into is the issue of the kill switch. If changes were to be made to his cybernetics it would undoubtedly set it off, so what we came up with is that while Rocket was unable to deactivate the switch he was able to temporarily stall it, allowing him to do the work he needed, albeit under a very limited time frame.Â
New Rocket comic!!
Sometimes, you donât realize how much youâve truly healed until something unabashedly joyful hits you in the middle of the day. You may have already resigned yourself to the pain in your life long ago, when all of a sudden, you find yourself smiling at the face looking back at you in the mirrorâ and you realize just how far youâve comeđŚ
Enjoy!đŤś

Thereâs actually a few things here that majorly dropped childhood mortality. In no particular order these includeâŚ
Vaccines (yay!)
Pasteurization
Implementing and enforcing food quality and sanitation standards. Did you know White Castle was called as such because their gimmic was that they continually cleaned and bleached their stores inside and out to prevent food poisoning.
The invention of antibiotics! The first sulfa drugs dropped in the 1930s-40s
Widespread access and distribution of enriched food products! Enriched flour did a lot to prevent malnutrition, and itâs how Wonderbread got its name!
We got a hell of a lot better with medical care for sick and premature infants. The first incubators for premature babies were actually used as something of a sideshow attraction at Coney Island! It was the only way the doctor who invented them could get funding to keep them running because no one thought it would work. It showed a lot of people that really premature babies could survive with the right treatment and eventually was adopted by hospitals.
The green revolution in agriculture that prevented around a billion people from starving to death
More recently itâs been widespread access to mosquito nets and medication to poorer and rural areas
Every time I hear a parent complaining about their child leaving for university and ânever coming backâ Iâm like âYeah. I donât need to hear anything else. Kid is in the right.â also, it is baffling how many parents expect their kids to MOVE CLOSER TO THEM so they can see their grandkids. If you âfeel abandonedâ maybe you could consider leaving Shitsburgh Hatesville and moving closer to them? Or is that too brave?
And I know there is a lot of cultural and family tie related things that can make relocating as an older person scary but I grew up in an area with a terrible economy, a declining population, no healthcare, no job opportunities, no educational opportunities and terrible infrastructure and I got so sick of listening to people complain that their children left. It is a horrible place to raise a child. There is no drugstore in the town, no pediatrician, no entertainment, corruption, a terrible school and again, no jobs. If you actually loved your grandchildren, youâd understand why their parents donât want to raise them there.
Windows media player on windows 11 no longer recognizes cds
I ripped a ton of CDs I bought at an estate sale using Windows Media Player on Windows 11 back in September, so I wanted to look into this. Turns out Microsoft shut down the server that retrieves music metadata sometime in early December.
Starting yesterday morning (Dec 15 2025), Windows Media Player Legacy cannot find media info for CDs I am ripping. WPM displays unknown alb
Note that it will still play and rip CDs just fine, but they will only show up as "Unknown Album." If you want to rip CDs, you will need third party software. fre:ac has been good in my experience
Good job, Microsoft.
Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping? (Celeste Davis, Oct 6 2024)
"White flight is a term that describes how white people move out of neighborhoods when more people of color move in.
White flight is especially common when minority populations become the majority. That neighborhood then declines in value.
Male flight describes a similar phenomenon when large numbers of females enter a profession, group, hobby or industryâthe men leave. That industry is then devalued.
Take veterinary school for example:
In 1969 almost all veterinary students were male at 89%.
By 1987, male enrollment was equal to female at 50%.
By 2009, male enrollment in veterinary schools had plummeted to 22.4%
A sociologist studying gender in veterinary schools, Dr. Anne Lincoln says that in an attempt to describe this drastic drop in male enrollment, many keep pointing to financial reasons like the debt-to-income ratio or the high cost of schooling.
But Lincolnâs research found that âmen and women are equally affected by tuition and salaries.â
Her research shows that the reason fewer men are enrolling in veterinary school boils down to one factor: the number of women in the classroom.
For every 1% increase in the proportion of women in the student body, 1.7 fewer men applied.
One more woman applying was a greater deterrent than $1000 in extra tuition! (âŚ)
Since males had dominated these professions for centuries, you would think they would leave slowly, hesitantly or maybe linger at 40%, 35%, 30%, but thatâs not what happens.
Once the tipping point reaches majority female- the men flee. And boy do they flee!
Itâs a slippery slope. When the number of women hits 60% the men who are there make a swift exit and other men stop joining.
Morty Schapiro, economist and former president of Northwestern University has noticed this trend when studying college enrollment numbers across universities:
âThereâs a cliff you fall off once you become 60/40 female/male. It then becomes exponentially more difficult to recruit men.â
Now weâve reached that 60% point of no return for colleges.
As weâve seen with teachers, nurses and interior design, once an institution is majority female, the public perception of its value plummets.
Scanning through Reddit and Quora threads, many men seem to be in agreement - college is stupid and unnecessary.
A waste of time and money. Youâre much better off going into the trades, a tech boot camp or becoming an entrepreneur. No need for college. (âŚ)
When mostly men went to college? Prestigious. Aspirational. Important.
Now that mostly women go to college? Unnecessary. De-valued. A bad choice. (âŚ)
School is now feminine. College is feminine. And rule #1 if you want to safely navigate this world as a man? Avoid the feminine.
But we donât seem to want to talk about that."
very good tags from @downwarddnaspiral
literally saw this tweet this morning
I saw a dude say with his whole chest that biology isn't really STEM
Take a wild fucking guess as to which major has the most female students
I bet there's at least one guy who uses a wheelchair who became a sneakerhead just for the laughs. Wearing pristine bright white brand shoes like "if you let your shoes touch the ground you're a bitch. If you keep them on display and never wear them, you're a coward. I'm the only one doing this correctly. Fuck you, get on my level."

In 2026, Ilia Malinin made headlines for landing a backflip at the Winter Olympics after the move was officially re-approved under updated competition rules.
But this moment did not come out of nowhere.
In 1998, Black Olympic skater Surya Bonaly executed a one-foot backflip at the Nagano Winter Olympics, officials had deemed the move unacceptable at the time. She completed it, on one blade, in an iconic defiance of standards that repeatedly limited her innovation and expression.
What governing bodies labeled as ânot allowedâ in 1998 is now celebrated as history-making in 2026.
Bonalyâs backflip wasnât a mistake or a gimmick. It was skill, athleticism, and vision, long before the sport was willing to reward it. And while rules may change, her contribution should not be erased or reframed as an afterthought.
This moment isnât about taking anything away from todayâs athletes.
While Ilia Malinin is being credited with making Olympic history in 2026, the truth is that Surya Bonaly made that history in 1998.
Her one-foot backflip was revolutionary then, and it remains iconic now.
