When I saw this, my heart fell out of my chest. This is Ben. Flyboys Ben. He’s young and brash, living to fly. Every detail down to his his E.S. patch and the wings above his heart, the boxing eagle on the plane, is utterly flawless and perfect. He takes my breath away, and no doubt has the same effect on Hux. I can’t say thank you enough for this incredible, beautiful gift.

female characters are always lighter than male characters. strong characters are almost always dark. aggressive characters are almost always dark. peaceful and intelligent characters are almost always light. even amongst darker characters the lightest one is usually either the leader or the girls. dark is evil and light is good.

if you try to explain this to a white person they look at you like youre insane

to add to what @gay-milton-quotes said, as someone who worked in animation for 8+ years as a designer, it's not even just main characters but it applied to just basic incidentals (npcs, random people in a scene, etc.) as well. So often I'd be tasked with coming up with a bunch of bystanders... and inevitably the supervisors/show runners always chose the lighter, thinner ones. I've only had two black supervisors to date. Shockingly (/s) that never came up with them.

Sometimes you really need a good personality on your staff.
