Group training can be fun, but even group training comes a fair amount of alone time. That's when the #work gets done. Happy hump day! ✨ I had to wake up extra early to go to the dentist this morning. Almost didn’t go because I truly hate needles so much and did not want to do it. Honestly though it was worth it in the end because I got to laugh at my half immobile face until the lidocaine wore off. After the dentist I was able to squeeze in 3x mile repeats at the track. My times were: 7:30, 7:45, and 8:30. I hate speed work but I also *really* want to improve my race times! Also the park where I run on the track has an amazing view of Ranier, plus pretty blossoms are popping up all over Seattle! 🌸✨🌿 Here’s to making it half way through the week! 💕
2/26-(5 miles & strength) Hey Guys we are halfway through the week! I keep struggling with getting up early...tbh though I am liking all the extra sleep I’m getting😂 I’ve had cold symptoms this whole week and I think it’s stopping them from becoming full blown.
Anyway it was a chilly morning out! But I loved it, what a perfect day weather wise!! It’s finally starting to feel like fall out! I ran to the gym for a warmup at around 9:20 pace. Then I actually did weights before running. I wanted to get them done when the weight area wasn’t so crowded. I lifted arms for 20 minutes and then headed to the treadmill. I did a 3 mile tempo run. It was a bit slower at 7:54 pace, but that’s not horrible! Anyway I felt slightly slow, but not bad all things considered. After that I did 25 minutes of my PT exercises aimed at strengthening my hips and core! Then I ran a mile back because it was 9:20 and I had class at 10😅 My watch said my pace was 7:45 but I highly doubt that 😂😂
I may have switched my workouts around, but all things considered this was a good one! 40 minutes of strength & 5 miles (with a tempo) is pretty good for a Wednesday morning! I honestly value strength workout a lot more than I used to. In fact I look forward to strength work over running sometimes.
Anyway breakfast was eaten in about three minutes today while walking to class!! The rest of my overnight oats from yesterday, some of a pumpkin muffin and some yogurt😂 As I walked into my class I realized I went to the wrong class😂😂 Rheres a first time for everything and that’s the first time I’ve ever done that...so I walked across the quad to my correct class five minutes late. Lunch was pretty simple, some mixed greens, pulled pork, & bbq sauce! After lunch I went to class, then class again. Then back to my room for a snack and to do some homework. After that I was off to my last class of day! My children’s movement class, so I taught a dance lesson in class :) That got early so I did more work & then literally walked around for thirty minutes dropping off little/big sorority clues. Then I ate dinner! Dinner was vegetable rice, honey chicken, an egg roll & salad!
After that I went to Walmart for literally an hour and a half getting things for the sisterhood retreat😂 It ended up being pretty fun though. Then I did laundry, some work and now I’m off to bed! My throat is bothering me a bit and everybody has been sick, but with the extra sleep I’ve gotten lately I just hope I’m able to kick the cold. Long run tomorrow and I’ll actually get up for it!! Also I included my outfit today because it was so comfy :)

Snacks: oatmeal cookies, cereal, Clementine, chocolate
Today I’m thankful for the most perfect weather & the savoy Walmart & my fuzzy leggings

I started off feeling great. The mistake I made was after the first lap I was running a 6 minute mile pace. Too fast for what I needed to accomplish in this workout. I did slow up and completed the first mile at 6:15 but the damage was done. Mile 2 was just under 6:17 and I was having difficulty holding the 3rd mile. I did stop and reassessed the situation at mile 2.7. After about 30 seconds or so I started again, determined to finish the run. I am not sure I would have broken under 25 minutes without the stop by I needed to get a hold of the situation. What did I learn? Go out slower at first and see what you can do before you attack. I was able to attack the 2nd half of mile 4 with all I had. About two weeks ago, I spontaneously decided to sign up for a 5k at a vineyard. I thought “hey, I’ve been running pretty consistently and you get a glass of wine and chocolate once you finish why not?”. I asked my dad if he wanted to join me and do it together. He’s generally active but had taken a break from running due to injury. He agreed! So we both made sure to take the past two weeks seriously and prepare as much as possible. Little did I know how many hills this course had and that it apparently is one of their hardest courses.... My goal was to finish strong and run hard. We get to race day and it is chilly and raining.. but still I did not let it bring my vibes down. It was hard, but we didn’t give up!!!! I crossed the finish line and waited for my dad to cheer him on. We gave it our all and kicked ass.He even placed third in his age group!!!! I’m so proud and so grateful I get to live this life in a positive, healthy way that is strongly supported by those around me. Hope everyone had a great Sunday!
