6 easy recovery miles around the neighborhood. The legs felt relatively good after yesterday's tough track workout. It might have helped that it wasn't as hot as it has been. The sky was a luminous orange/yellow as if there was a large fire nearby, but it was just the humidity, overcast with thick clouds. The run was other worldly.

After yesterday's rest day, today was track intervals.
The workout was 8 x 400 meters (1 lap) with 1 minute rest between sets, then 4 x 200 meters (1/2 lap) with 1 minute rest. The 400 meter reps ranged between 85 and 90 seconds, and the 200 meters reps ranged between 38 and 40 seconds.
They were tough but also felt in control. Was happy with how it went. 10 minute warm up and 10 minute cool down as well. Then a strength workout afterwards. A good day.

When I got out for my walk this morning I discovered that it was a beautiful day outside. I had left the office wrapped up in a scarf and puffer jacket expecting the usual wintery chill to hit me when I walked out the door. It was a pleasant surprise to discover the sunshine and warmth. The scarf and jacket had to come off pretty quickly. After work we did some shopping but I still had time to get out for a run in the warm evening air. Made it home before the sun went down and it did so quite beautifully tonight. Glad I got out there, the forecast for tomorrow looks like the cold will be back in full force.

A long run, 12 miles, on another hot sunny day. Not complaining about the sun and the heat, it's been a great summer so far - just makes running more difficult. Even that has a silver lining, as these tough days of running should make it easier in autumn racing. Took a couple of walk breaks to reset in the heat. Felt dehydrated near the end. A good run following yesterday's hard intervals workout.
