that poll going around of the guy who thought "people only eat tofu as a bit because they're deranged vegans" or whatever really crystalizes something that i have never been able to precisely say - which is "a nonzero fraction of people who start picky-eater discourse just happen to precisely hate those foods which are not from north america and refuse to introspect on this whatsoever"
In contrast some people say "there aren't any picky eaters in Asia 🙄" but this is laughably untrue. I have a cousin in India who refused until his 20s to eat anything in a sauce. as you can imagine in India this was difficult. he basically had to pick things out of curry and wipe them dry
This little one acts completely feral unless you make the "mommy greeting kittens" noise at them. When my phone isn't making them unsure they will come charging to the front of the cage for attention by the second trill.
You can see the body language change in the ears with the first and second trill real well
this is killing me. op please teach me your ways
by jude it is…….. it’s one of them those foratu!!!!
Les dances à travers le monde
my favourite thing about this is some are very traditional dances integral to that country/culture; and some are one individuals favourite move
and he approaches all of them with enthusiasm and a surprising amount of skill
Watching this makes me happy

everybody give it up for this brand of green. round of applause for most under appreciated green
idk if this is an usamerican thing or not but it always blows my mind as a small european country resident that yall have many names and types of apples???? what do you mean its not just red yellow or green??? why is it so complicated??? who is granny smith????
'whats your favorite apple' 'red' 'no i mean like what type' '??????' actual conversatiom i've had with a mutual from usa
welcome to the icelandic apple selection. what color will you have
okay so APPEARANTLY this is just an iceland thing? i looked it up and we dont grow apples here commercially. we get them imported and there's such few options that the stores rarely bother to name them. thats why, culturally, we just call them by colors.
i feel like we all learned something today. i learned that im hungry for apples with names and you learned that iceland is 3 apples tall. the world continues to surprise and enlighten
when second wave feminists brought the widespread nature of incest and child sex abuse to the light, they located its causes very accurately in the patriarchal family, the social and economic domination of men over women, the dependence and thus vulnerability of children. these critiques which threaten the very foundations of the patriarchal order were quickly swept under the figure of “the pedophile.” it was no longer a deep-seated structural issue inevitable in a society ordered in specific oppressive ways, but a matter of individual pathology. the child molester isn’t your dad or your nice neighbor or your priest or your little league coach, it’s a pedophile: some barely human monster. and if the child molester is your dad, or your nice neighbor, or your priest, or your little league coach, and they can be recognized as such, well, they are transformed as if by magic from those integral parts of the human community into the pedophile as demonic outcast. the feminist systematic critique is neutralized. this is why i hate to see pedophile used to refer to almost anything but someone’s self-expressed sexual fixation on prepubescent children. it is not semantic quibbling or minimizing abuse, but that i think the use of the term pedophile as the ubiquitous framework for understanding csa is the minimization of the depth of the problem.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

day 92
As a society we have benefited so much from successful public health measures that we now have the privilege of declaring that we must not need them anymore
Bitch before enriched flour, neural tube defects like spina bifida were far more common. Even now, spina bifida clinicians and researchers are begging to have salt and maize fortified to reach groups that don’t use as much flour. Before iodized salt, the United States had a fucking GOITER BELT. Eleven years after the introduction of fluoridated water, a city in Michigan found the rate of dental caries among school children dropped a staggering 60%— in an era where tooth decay regularly fucking killed people
I’m literally not even going to start on vaccines, which are among the most successful and robustly studied public health measures in world history
You might say “oh well today we all have access to vitamins and toothpastes and dentists so we don’t need those things in our food supplies” and boy do white people on social media loooove to fucking say that. But here’s the thing: no, people don’t all have easy access to those things. That’s privilege talking yet again
not even funny how true this is for me
I don't want a Career I want to Fuck Around
And not find out. I cannot stress enough how much I do not want to find out.

its silly but it amuses me when a media has a masked character and its built up as a big mystery what they look like under the mask and then 3 seasons in they take off the mask and they look like: a normal brown haired guy. like well i don’t know what i expected i guess but thanks for the build up i guess.
The diversity of problems that different transgender people face kind of boggles the mind, tbh.
Gender and culture and expression of both of those things are so individual and the problems that come with them are also incredibly individual. And people like fight over what problems are worse.
At a certain point I feel like we’re arguing that our cage is worse than our neighbor’s cage because they get to have a potted plant in there or something. Friend, the potted plant has nothing to do with the cage that you’re stuck in.
Passing, non passing, transfem, transmasc, androgynous, binary, non binary, neogender, fully transitioned, never transition, partially transitioned, stealth, out and proud. So many different situations. So many different problems. We should all be pointing our death lasers at The Man instead of each other though I think. I think that would be a bit more efficient.
