Is there any media that wasn’t well received/got shit on/might even be objectively bad but you still like it?
I've always been a fan of campy shitty terrible media, ever since I was a kid and we got Flyin' Ryan (2003) from the library, which is an extremely low budget movie about a bullied child who gets Heelies™ that can fly. absolute Classic movie in my home idk if it's even available anywhere. truly a bad amazing movie
most bad/fun tv shows I end up giving up on before they end (e.g. Teen Wolf, Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon a Time, Agents of SHIELD, Flash, Supergirl, the list goes on) but I have actually rewatched iZombie even though I know it's not "good." I also will watch a really shitty network tv show (e.g. B Positive) and I won't even say I enjoy it but I will watch
as far as things with actual dislike, I liked the recent show Wayward, which people seemed to hate for various reasons. I watched Penelope (2006) with people and they thought it was cheesy but I have always liked that movie. romcoms should be cheesy. I like things that are campy
I am also a lover of a cancelled single season tv show. A to Z, Ponies (rip), Selfie, The B- in Apartment 23 (tier 1!!!!), Limitless (never saw the movie). they're sometimes pretty good, just not widely viewed
I have more trouble with bad books but I think you get tiers with those. If the writing is good but the plot is flawed I see way more hate than when the writing sucks so bad I can't even get into it, which are sometimes books people love. The book Dwelling by Emily Hunt Kivel comes to mind. It was written well but people evidently didn't like the plot, which was perfectly acceptable to me. whereas I HATED A Short Stay In Hell which people absolutely love for some unknown reason
idk my taste is a bit all over the place. I think people do perceive me to be snobby but I'm much snobbier about books than I am tv and movies. a B movie is a great thing. I saw one on tv a few years ago where a woman is trapped in a house with a tiger during a hurricane. it was absolutely nonsensical and amazing. I'd rather watch that than Oppenheimer. but I do hate a poorly written book
tumblr is truly the evergreen social media bc I opened up a blog I haven't posted on since 2013 and there was a like from a mere 2 weeks ago in the activity panel. even dead things can still get notes

I have trouble believing any podcast is "good" bc podcasts are at best okay due to their very nature of being 1+ hours of people talking meanderingly
