Making my way out of my flop era // Problematic fave since 1996, leatherman, has opinions about pop music and would like to talk to you about the ocean.
My truly most joyous of hobbies is making playlists and mixtapes. No one following me cares very much about these but I've been making them for ages and ages and ages and I love them. So here's a masterpost with all my finalised curated ones. Categorised and listed in reverse chronological order. Unfortunately they are all Spotify links but I'm sure you can translate them into your player of choice.

The wildest thing I learned about this video is not that cops in America are shooting each other by accident, I sort of expected that to be honest, its the people in the notes saying variations of "ah, yea, that police department use XYZ gun. It probably went off by itself, that model does that". Excuse me?? What are you talking about. Not only is there guns available that sometimes go off by themselves(???) but a whole police department are using them?? On purpose????

As much as I love her, Vasa is probably one of the worst ships ever. She never saw action or the open sea. The king kept demanding more canon decks and decorations. They had to abort stability tests because she was so top heavy. She got knocked over by a gust of wind and sank on the way out from the shipyard, only 120 m (390 ft) from shore. Right infront of the massive crowd that came to watch her set sail. Her gunports were open to fire a salute to the crowd. Her mast still poked up above the water. She was supposed to be the new flagship of the Swedish navy.
I'll throw in the wonderful Eizin Suzuki into this ring too, a man whose work just breathes light without actually using dynamic lighting in the usual way. It's no surprise both Nagai and Suzuki are both considered prolific in art pertaining to the city pop genre because they're able to paint these kinds of scenes with a delicate touch.
This feels like I could trip on that radio and fall right into that water, feeling the crystal waves as I drop in.
And this, a nice stroll down a resort strip, where my sunscreened skin could literally feel cooked if I leaned too close to the tiling.
And then a nice stretch of summer street, wherein you could see your face in the flushed red of that car provided it didn't blind you from its sunny reflections.
I don't think I even need to say anything more, Suzuki's a massive influence in how he even places colours so warmly in such unorthodox manner. It's a naturally sunkissed talent~ 🌊
The Piccolo Teatro di Milano was and is one of Italy's leading theatre companies. During the 1978-1979 season, they mounted a production of Waiting for Godot, which was directed by Walter Pagliaro and designed (scenery, costumes, and presumably lighting) by Enrico Job. Job did something I have never before seen in a production of Godot, namely this:
The playing space was that disc suspended high above the stage. I have genuinely no idea how people entered or exited. The ring-shaped lighting rig seems to have had only that one instrument mounted on it—the fact that you see it in different places suggests to me that the entire ring was made to rotate around the playing space. (Pictues are from https://archivio.piccoloteatro.org/eurolab/).

[Cyber Effect] astonishing modern raden (mother of pearl inlay) by Terumasa Ikeda. A nice pun on the classic Ghost in the shell ;)
Raden is a very old decorative craft (see video below), usually used on lacquer bases with floral or traditional motifs. It’s so great to see it used this way!
