a couple weeks ago this guy posted in the chicago pagan facebook group saying that he’s a djinn and that there’s a portal between here and egypt and only he and one other person had the power to close it and there was going to be a massive sandstorm… like dude, close the fucking portal, why are you even telling us this
vid i stole off reddit and feel like i need everyone to watch
This is a really fantastic return to form for this genre of post. In recent years there's been less and less effort put into this vital aspect of internet culture, it's nice to see a return to the truly artisanal work of the late 00s.
Now THIS is what the internet exists for. I was LOCKED IN the whole time.
Old movies that suck and are awful are great, but new movies that suck and are awful are stupid. Hope this helps

You read Wretched of the Earth and how the colonizer has PTSD from torturing the colonized and the former has a panic attack upon seeing a former victim while the latter desperately tries to kill himself to avoid recapture and I think it's right to ask: Am I really supposed to pity the former?
[Speaking slowly, gently, as though trying not to scare a startled horse] Now. Consider. The US military
To be clear I am not saying Fanon is attempting to elicit sympathy for the colonizer. I mean "Am I supposed to feel sorry for them" in an aghast way because the colonizer, who is suffering, feels he deserves sympathy. You see it again and again, all throughout history, and even now people complain about how traumatized they are from murdering civilians. How even in the end, in their eyes, the true victim is the perpetrator who lives rather than the dead person who is "at peace." As though any number of extenuating personal circumstances is supposed to make your guilt weigh more than the actual harms other people have experienced at your hands. As though people overseas wouldn't also like to go to college, would like to afford a house, would like to escape poverty. It's infuriating!

"we live in an uncaring universe." sorry the special planet full of beauty and animals and food literally growing out of the ground isnt good enough for you. i guess
My boss was like “Do you have any idea how much money we’re losing” like who cares, it’s not like they would give it to me otherwise
Have our investors tried making coffee at home and not eating out so much?

For some reason, it never occurred to me that Project Gutenberg would have public domain old cookbooks. This is BRILLIANT. There’s a 1953 cranberry recipe pamphlet and a suffrage cookbook from 1915 and a translation of Apicus’s guide to food in Imperial Rome and a whole bunch of other fascinating old cookbooks, many pre-1800. Treasure trove!
I love you for sharing this!!!
For more old cookbooks, Michigan State University has 76 of their historical cookbooks scanned and searchable at Feeding America: The Historic American Cookbook Project.
For even older recipes, check out Gode Cookery. They list medieval and Renaissance cooking instructions and translate the recipes for you into measurable amounts and all.
I have have have to mention Miss Leslie. I learned so much about cooking from that book, even if a lot of it is outdated.
Also, Forme of Cury is great fun, if you can muddle through the Middle English (Gode Cookery has translations and adaptions of some of the recipes from this).
I’ll always take an opportunity to remind people of Barkham Burroughs’ Encyclopaedia of Astounding Facts and Useful Information, which also contains recipes
Feast Afrique had pulled from a range of digital repositories to create a library of historic books on the food and cultural history of West Africa and the African Diaspora. This includes lots of historic and specialized cookbooks.

i’m sure this opinion will get me killed for some reason but it’s wild how almond milk seems to be the dominant alternative milk when it tastes like nut based cerebrospinal fluid meanwhile Oat Milk is right there being sexy and thick and delicious
I do like oat milk, but i an curious now
whats your favourite non dairy milk?
Oat
Coconut
Almond (really?)
Rice
Soy
Pistachio
Cashew
Hemp
Peanut
Non-Dairy Creamer
Another NON DAIRY milk

I was not remotely prepared for this.

advertising lemonade is pointless. the human body already knows it needs it
if there was any justice at all in the world “every helen has her troy” would be an idiom (“every beautiful woman leaves a disaster in her wake”) and misogynistic renaissance authors would use it to describe hot women they didn’t like but, of course, inadvertently making her sound insanely awesome in the process. and then in modern times instead of talking about things being their hill to die on women could say “this is my troy to burn” and people on tumblr would be kind of horny about the whole thing and it would get incorporated into the whole “can yuo put that out on me” genre of posts. anyway just a glimpse into my beautiful mind tonight
