Part 2 of The Lost Boys characters as D&D classes - the Frogs
Not vampires, so not warlocks, but I had a fun idea with them: paladins. They are just so singularly focused on fighting vampires, and if they could take a binding oath to rid the world of them, they would.
This one did start with a “what if they made their own holy water”. I just had a vision of the back room of the shop having barrels of water that the Frogs bless when they need more holy water.
I’m thinking oath of devotion paladins, since they have the ability to turn any weapon holy, and I love the idea of one of the Frogs stabbing a vampire with a small knife, and it doing serious damage.
Part 1
So what I think is that there's this default belief in patriarchy that men are superior to women and therefore the "masculine" sphere is superior to the "feminine" sphere. And so, as feminists have fought to expand the number of allowable female activities, men (on the aggregate over generations) have retreated from those activities because they're now seen as "feminine", and so partaking in them is incommensurate with their belief in their own superiority. And, unfortunately, as this has progressed, this has resulted in a lot of men sectioning themselves off from, frankly, everything that actually makes being alive worthwhile. It's a misery spiral, and the only way out is to abandon male supremacy.
#god so many men cant have hobbies anymore#because of this fuckass mindset#cant paint cuz its girly#cant do pottery because its girly#all arts and crafts? girly#any musical instrument that isnt a guitar or drums? girly#like baby no this is literally killing you#your only hobby CANNOT be an impact sport#that shit will not keep you sane when you are sick or injured#or OLD#have you considered#that you will need to give up aggressive soccer when you get OLD#and they you'll have nothing to do because you refuse to do any arts#why do men#ugh
This pride month reminder is to get a library card and check-out queer books even if you do not read them.
Libraries use statistics like check-outs over previous year(s) to determine what to keep in their collections and what to order. Also ask your library staff how they acquire books, if there is a way to suggest books for purchase or how to donate materials to be added to the collection!

the fact that we only have “herculean task” and “sisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire
icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down
cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)
feel free to chime in i ran out of ideas much faster than i anticipated
Promethean task: opposite of a Cassandraean task. You have the right information, and SOMEONE has to share it. But it's all in the delivery and if you're the person to identify the problem you WILL be hated forever.
Oedipal Task: (1) Attempting to avoid an unspeakably awful outcome and in doing so creating the circumstances that will bring it about. (2) Trying to solve an problem and discovering that you are in fact the problem you are trying to solve.
Odyssean task: you’ll complete it but it’ll take 20 times longer than it should and involve multiple side quests and mini-adventures
Apparently, Odysseus is an ADHD metaphor.

lmfao I just saw zohran doing the inaugural swim in a full suit and tie, the schtick genuinely gets funnier the more he does it. My only complaint is should have worn swim trunks OVER the suit
Can you guess which of these people is the mayor
HELL YEAH
just cried so hard at this that i actually nearly threw up
today I found out my mother doesn't know what dandelions are and now I'm wondering what other strange secrets she's been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don't have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she's aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
then wtf is a daffodil......................
I love this post especially the rat part
going on me feed
what do you mean there are exactly zero rats i. this post

This should be the beginning of a series about The Lost Boys D&D classes - but before I get to the individual characters, I need to explain vampirism.
In many pieces of media, becoming a vampire is a passive thing. Someone else bit you and injected their venom into your veins. You get the effects, but have no control or agency over what is happening. In The Lost Boys, you drink the blood and you kill by draining someone of theirs. You don’t have to know what you are drinking is blood, or what it will do to you, but you have to drink it. You have to kill before the transformation completes.
In D&D, vampirism is a race. Your character is a vampire. You were bitten. Lost Boys vampirism is more akin to a warlock pact.
Warlock pact do not require you to understand what you are agreeing to (Fjord in cr campaign 2 is an example). You do not have to know what the blood will turn you into to drink it, but to drink the vampire blood is to begin the pact with the head vampire/your sire/the entity that gives vampires power. This is where the kill comes in.
The first kill is a test of strength. It proves that you are worthy of the vampire blood and the powers that come from it. It is you knowing what you are and agreeing to be a vampire. Before then, there are options (starving to death and killing the head vampire)
In summary, vampirism in The Lost Boys = warlock pact.

An idea has happened - since warlock subclasses are often called “pact of the ____”, vampirism is the “pact of the blood”

What DND classes do you think The Lost Boys + Michael and Star would be?
In my head, the Lost Boys have movie appearances and personality is a combination of movie and musical.
I have thought a bit, and I like the idea that drinking the vampire blood is a kind of warlock pact, and the first kill is a confirmation of the pact. So all
David - In my head, he was a paladin before he turned and made a warlock pact (with max). To me, he is the only one that has not multiclassed. Just threw himself so deeply into becoming a vampire (warlock). To him, if he tried to be anything else, it would be one step too close to humanity
Dwayne - This is on the musical side, but Sean posted something about him turning to join the band, and I think that’s fun - so bard. The warlock contract was just necessary for him to reach his full potential as a bard.
Paul - Artificer. I think he would work on the groups bikes so that they can withstand vampire speed and maybe fly
Marko - This is extremely on the movie side, but I think he is multiclassed as a druid - see the pigeons.
Michael - (bit angsty) Barbarian. He had his first rage against his dad. The Boys probably try to get him to rage so he can make his first kill
Star - Rogue. Is apparently a runaway, and seems to be good at apppearing and disappearing fast. Doesn’t seem to like direct conflict, and a lot of her conflict resolution (early musical) is to run away.
Bonus (no explanations here, but I do have them)
Frogs - Paladins
Lucy - Cleric
Sam - Wizard
Max -Warlock
I literally sat up in excited when I got this notification! The idea of vampirism being akin to a warlock pact FUCKING RULES. God I love creative people.
Thank you for the ask!! Ever since I posted, I have kept getting ideas on how it manifests for each character. Probably going to make a full series so I have the space to get them onto one post!!!

it’s actually quite easy to take over a small local government group if you really want to, bc if you volunteer consistently people will just put you in charge of whatever. I’m now one of like three people at a nature preserve making official decisions about trails, events, putting in a prairie, and designing a series of illustrations for a storybook trail etc., and it’s just because last summer I started coming over once a week to help the naturalist out for a couple hours. Mine now. you too can steal an organization and shape it to your will 🫵
Just a PSA in light of recent events: I NEVER want or need any of you to, threaten, bully, or otherwise go after someone on my behalf. People are allowed to criticise me. They are allowed even to be mean to me. And if I draw attention to a negative comment, I fully expect you all to discuss it respectfully like adults in the post itself.
It is not OK to go after people on their own blogs for the “crime” of criticising me. Please don’t do it. Not now, not ever.
Thank you.
