Cognitive Functions Brainstorm (Ne and Ni)
ps1: you'll probably identify yourself the most if one of them is your dominant or auxiliary function.
ps2: if you repost, give due credit.
Ne (extroverted intuition) - spontaneous creativity; brainstorming type of creativity; bursts of inspiration; imaginative; curious; inventive; electric; tend to look childlike; funny; quirky; goofy; shitpost kind of humour; adaptable; flexible; multitasking; multiskilled; i have a lot of different interests and tend to get bored with them (or even with people) easily and drop them out, searching for new ones.; i have the need to be entertained 24/7 and i'm pretty good at entertaining myself. that's why i tend to look as an introvert at first.; is it possible to literally die of boredom?...; can't stand boredom; restless mind; i can be incredibly random.; i'm not afraid of change. actually, i seek it like my lungs seeks oxygen.; i can be chaotic and i kinda like it.; i'm EXTREMELY open-minded; i have a scattered brain. it's hard to focus most of the time...
explorer; adventurous; go-ahead; “i can never read all the books i want. i can never be all the people i want and live all the lives i want. i can never train myself in all the skills i want. and why do i want? i want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. and i am horribly limited.”; possibilities, possibilities and possibilities. that's why i tend to be indecisive.; “sometimes i can hear my bones straining under the weight of all the lives i'm not living".
i'm highly analytical since i'm pro at identifying patterns. in other words, i have a bs detector.; also, because i'm able to relate things that, apparently, have nothing to do with each other, i can be perceived as someone highly intelligent, almost genius. that's also the reason why i'm often called "witty".; trial and error type of learning, which is the reason i can be highly resilient and optimistic.; i'm not afraid to start all over again because, when i do it, i'm not starting from the scratch, but from experience.
Ni (introverted intuition) - observing; deep thoughts; thoughtful; pensive; insightful; philosophical; existential intelligence; spiritual wisdom; wise; sage; understanding; comprehensive; holistic vision; ambitious; driven; willpower; strong-willed; self-fufilled prophecies. for the good or the bad.; and what is the good and the bad, after all?; controversial opinions about god and existence (not generally shared with common sense); unique way of seeing life and things; metaperspective; 20/20 vision; perceived as mystical, mysterious, intimidating and standoffish; excellent listener; all-or-nothing mentality; tunnel vision. and because of that, i tend to be perceived as stubborn and picky.; troubleshooting from "out of the blue"; sudden realizations (eureka, a-ha moments), and that's how i, usually, use my creativity.
i'm not afraid of diving deep into the dark depths of my unconscious mind (or the others', a.k.a the collective unconscious). i'm my own (or main) shrink.; and that's why i'm drawn to symbolism, whether it's decoding how my subconscious mind speaks (e.g, dreams), whether in art, mythology or even astrology and/or tarot.; precognitive dreams; i try to interpret my dreams and the dreams of other people (and barely share my interpretations).; meaning seeker; everything (or almost everything) has a meaning behind.; reading between the lines; intuitive logic; i absorb information as if my mind is doing osmosis. that's why i "just know" things.; knowing; hard to fool; i trust my sixth sense. that's why i tend to avoid doing certain things that my sixth sense has told me won't be good for me (it could be anything, from big to trivial things such as ending up watching a bad movie and feeling like you wasted your time); a priori > a posteriori.
i use to view myself from up above. as if i'm dissociating. as if i'm just a character playing a role.; i'm hyper self-aware; i am the observer. i'm a witness of life.; existential loneliness; EXTREMELY private and reserved; secretive; i tend to look sleepy and hypnotic.; i can be a HUGE perfectionist.

reasons to believe... in astrology (part II)
˙+. i strongly recommend for you to read the part I first.
before presenting that such special reason, first i’d like to make it clear that i’m not crazy to consider astrology a science in terms of, one day, being approved by the scientific method. because it’s not [a science] and will not [be approved by the method].
it turns out that this is not part of its nature (as i said, the rationality thing. and, since science is all about rational knowledge...).
astrology is an intuitive science
and as the divinatory art that it is, has everything to do with the moon and us women.
in astrology, the moon represents, among other things, intuition and emotion.
although today we know that attributing these constructs to women is stereotyping and, therefore, is related to the oppressive gender role, for taoism, however, it is the basis of all things. that is because intuition and emotion are linked to the ying force (the feminine energy of the principle of duality that inhabits everything).
thus, the moon is the greatest symbol of the sacred feminine! no wonder it is also related to the menstrual cycle.
the moon is cyclical and so are women.
also, the moon is related to the movement of the tides, influencing the external and internal flow of water (note: the water element, in astrology, is linked to emotions and intuition, i.e, exactly two of the things that the moon symbolizes; no wonder the moon rules the sign of cancer, a water element sign).
the sun, on the other hand, represents the sacred masculine (the yang force), being, as a result, connected to rationality and other themes related to this energy.
so, at this point, probably you can already realize that there is an imbalance of these forces in our society, especially given what we saw in the previous post about its obsession with reason.
the fact that astrology lovers place so much emphasis on the sun sign is another expression of this dance that no longer serves us
of course, all the planets revolve around the sun and without it there would be no life in that system. the sun is our ego and having a structured ego is extremely important, however, if we want to overcome the excessive rationality and understand ourselves as part of a whole that manifests in a multifaceted way, we need to transcend our ego.
and i’m not saying all of this as a new way of continuing to not accept that i’m a “cancerian”, but rather to invite y’all to look at your birth charts and understand them as a whole, especially if you, like me, rejected astrology for not identifying with your sun sign.
so, this post is not intended mainly for those who do not believe in astrology, but also for those who believe, but think that the sun sums up their personality. also, i address to those who are women, even if you are a man who finds yourself inclined towards things called “feminine” — and i don’t mean material things like makeup and etc., i mean intangible things like if you seek to connect with your emotional and intuitive side quite often.
in sidereal astrology (the eastern side of astrology, also called "vedic"), the moon is considered more important than the sun. and that’s because it’s through it that the nakshatras or lunar mansions are measured, which would be subdivisions of the 12 signs of the zodiac in 27 parts that give you an in-depth understanding of your being.
but i’m not here to advocate for this astrology’s line. it seems that the tropical chose me, even if i continue to flirt with vedic astrology and have a theory about both of them coexisting as real, without having to "choose a side".
in short, what i’m trying to say is that what the moon represents goes against what our society excessively defends: rationality and logic. thus, astrology as an intuitive science needs to pay more attention to the moon, even if the tropical system, as its name implies, is based on the inclination of the earth in relation to the sun, i.e, the seasons.
we live in a society that rejects emotionality, intuition, the feminine. we live in a society that rejects the moon, the lunar signs, the water signs. we live in a society that rejects astrology.
even though this study has gained relevance in the past years, it is still seen as a joke. all of that because it’s a study that has a mainly female audience. in other words, everything that is embraced by the female audience (and lgbtq+) is seen as mere fantasy and hysteria, it is seen as “pseudoscience”.
in this manner, the special reason for believing in astrology has to do with the moon and what it represents. the moon calls you as she called me. the intuitive and ancestral science calls you to reconnect with yourself. so it is exactly what astrology is: a tool for self-knowledge, but not just any tool. astrology is a tool that helps us remember that the cosmos is on our side, that, after all, we are made of the same particles as the stars thousands of miles away from us.
oops, you already read that, right? that we are made of star dust?!
personally, i believe that, despite carl sagan's agnosticism, he was "used" by something bigger, especially when he wrote that sentence. to recognize this, therefore, or to believe in it, is to circumvent the naivety of exacerbated reason, complete skepticism and, above all, nihilism.
and that’s how i finish… just as my virgo moon partially explains my skepticism, some aspects of my birth chart indicates that, no matter where i ran, i would end up, in one way or another, believing that we are more than this, we are more than the matter, we are more than the conquest and exhibition of material goods, we are much more than our objectified bodies or standards of beauty. we are more. we are part of something bigger.
if you feel insignificant, you better think again
better wake up because you’re part of something way bigger
[…]
not just a speck in the universe
not just some words in a bible verse
you are the living word
[…]
bigger than you, bigger than we
bigger than the picture they framed us to see
but now we see it
and it ain’t no secret, no
[…]
understand the truth ‘bout that question in your soul
look up, don’t look down, then watch the answers unfold
bigger - beyoncé
maybe you're thinking that i had to believe in a pseudoscience to reach these obvious conclusions... but i tell you i started to believe in it because i saw that, just as astrology goes beyond concrete things, i also go beyond.
astrology is the language that i and many other people use to talk about the great things. great things that, for example, there is uniqueness and, at the same time, plurality in [each of] us.
so, moonchild, look up, look at the stars, look at the moon. there are particles from the stars in our bodies, what happens there influences what happens here and vice versa. as above so below.
i know that all of this may sound like megalomania (just what i used to criticize before), but it is the answer to the question of our souls. i admit that, as i said before, i have some positions on my natal chart that helps me to have this view of existence (like my jupiter in pisces, the south node in that same sign, neptune in the 9th house and the ruler of the 9th in the 12th). so, don't feel bad if you want to believe, but feel like you can't. we have our own time and this is the cliché that hides one of the universal truths: we have our own time... thanks, to renato russo, a brazilian singer who beautifully sang that.
reasons to believe... in astrology (part I)
“astrology is a language. if you understand this language, the sky speaks to you.” - dane rudhyar
“the cosmos is within us. we are made of star-stuff. we are a way for the universe to know itself.” - carl sagan
the first quote was said by an astrologer. the second one, by an astronomer.
in case you don't know, the two professions are not different just because of two letters. it is well known that astronomy is a science — rational knowledge based on observation, experimentation and rigorous method; it unites theory, practice and technique, not based on assumptions, but on verification after the application of the scientific method. astrology, in turn, is considered a pseudoscience, since it brings together a set of theories with a scientific appearance, but which are based on false premises and/or do not use rigorous research methods.
some people prefer to call astrology a kind of metaphysics, such as meditation, feng shui or reiki, for example.
personally, i stick to that last definition. in my point of view, astrology fits perfectly into the category of something beyond the physics and matter.
to be honest, i feel a little offended when i see someone saying that the study of the stars influence is a pseudoscience. although, i have professed this thought for 2/3 of my life (and it doesn’t mean i'm old, ok? it’s just that i'm 22 years old and only 3 years ago i started to consider this "pseudoscience").
yes, i was skeptical.
and part of this is due to an astrological positioning of my birth chart... virgo moon, one of the most disbelieving.
i used to not give a fuck about astrology.
meanwhile, some friends of mine, from the school days, were enjoying this topic, i couldn’t understand their interest in that bs. i mean, how come i was a cancerian? dramatic, manipulative, shy crying baby? i was definitely not like that! ok, i was shy, that was true, but i was looking forward to improve my social skills, c’mon. so, no! no megalomaniac and schizophrenic belief would dictate my behavior, let alone my fate. no way planets millions of miles away from me, an insignificant earthling, will influence my personality and choices.
...
it turns out that my astrology’s point of view was too superficial, and so are my friends'. there is not just the sun sign (the one based on our birthdays). a whole solar system needs to be considered, in addition to the house system, the planetary aspects, the midpoints, asteroids (such as lilith and chiron), fixed stars (like spica, the star of abundance, which “explains” the beyoncé phenomenon, for example), the degrees, as well as mathematical points such as vertex and the north and south lunar nodes, which indicates, respectively, our “mission” and “karmic heritage”.
my friends and i were at the tip of an iceberg, although on opposite sides.
to say that astrology is a pseudoscience is naive
firstly because astrology is the firstborn, it came way before astronomy ;)
i know, i know. i know what you're going to say... "first the draft, then the masterpiece". and i agree with you, dear skeptic. i mean, it was really important to set apart the objective and the subjective, the experimentation and the speculation. auguste comte was right, you know?! with his positivism...
to have the science we have today, with all the advances in its most varied fields, it was necessary to “separate the wheat from the chaff”, the physical from mystical.
however, when we did that, we were left naked, helpless. and that’s because we thought/think that the ancient people were the real helpless, that being so desolate for not understanding the world in which they lived in, attributed the explanation of everything to external and invisible forces.
today, we do have the explanation... better, we have several explanations... even better! we have rational explanations for the world we are inserted in, the system in which our world is inserted, the galaxy in which our system is inserted, and so on.
of course, our science is incredible, but there is a lot that it is not yet capable of reach.
it may seem that i am writing all of those things with sarcasm, but that is definitely not my intention. i really worship science! skepticism still runs through my veins... or rather, on my moon lol. and i use it even in my eternal astrology studies.
what i mean by all of this is that we become obsessed with rationality. so obsessed that many of us often fall into the culmination of it: nihilism.
who said rationality is all that matters? have you ever tried to use reason when you should’ve followed the impulse of emotion and regretted it because you wasted time "thinking too much" to the point that you missed the opportunity?... i know. i've been there too. and, tbh, i'm still working on it.
so, that would be one of the proofs that rationality can be as unreliable as emotion.
thus, to say that astrology is a pseudoscience is naive because this ancient science is not among us willing to meet the skeptical expectations of rationality and logic (although, when we study the influence of the stars we realize that there is a logic of their own)
...
at this point, you can see that there’s a contradiction in the title, right? reasons to believe?! seriously?!
but i tell you there are reasons!
in addition to everything that has already been presented (everything that is in bold), there is one in particular that has to do with the Moon and, consequently, with us women.

razões para acreditar... na astrologia (parte II)
˙+. eu fortemente recomendo que você leia a parte I antes.
