Today marks 70 years since Victory over Japan day, in which the Second World War officially came to a close. Yet VJ Day also comes at a high cost, due to the dropping of the atomic bomb. The Manhattan Project led to the first nuclear bombs being dropped and though it led to the end of the war, it has since divided opinions due to the vast scales of death and injuries sustained from it. Though whatever your opinion on the dropping of the atomic bomb, please take a moment to remember both soldiers and civilians either killed, injured or affected by the Second World War regardless of who they fought for.

Thoroughly recommend reading this interesting insight to the notorious death camp Auschwitz. Written by a close friend, this offers a factual perception of his visit to Poland through the 'Lesson from Auschwitz' programme organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust.

Mhairi Black's Maiden speech was probably one of the best speeches to come from the Commons for a good while. She spoke of the opposition as a whole, with a well planned and thoughtful speech. As she asked Mr Osbourne, who is the "sun shining on?" After theBudget revelations two weeks ago, many now fear that they will not have the money to survive, with university students left to suffer. Young people are the ones most effected by the budget; the new living wage does not account for people under 25; university fees are allowed to be increased with no maintenance grants for those from poorer backgrounds; and benefits for under 25s will be cut. The young people are out future generation, so why are they not being helped? People from each side of the political spectrum that I have spoken to have at least said that Ms Black's speech was interesting to hear. What is your opinion?

Tendring Council wants to demolish this to build 250 houses just on this set of fields. Why destroy the beauty that there is already? The houses will impact the local community in a negative manner. Hello to everyone! The local council wants to over ride this small village and the surrounding countryside area with over a thousand new homes. These homes will spread across all those fields where children play, and will end up blocking the beautiful views over the Walton Backwaters (where 'Amazons and Swallows' was supposedly set.) the schools in the local area are already congested, as are the roads, the doctors surgeries etc. Even the crematoriums are full! Due to the bad conditions of the local roads, there have been at least two deaths in the last two years on them. An increase in housing will lead to more damage on the roads. Please can people pass on this petition to try and prevent this from happening. I urge you to sign the petition and make a difference for this small community. Thank you!

To me, the comments on Britain First explore the idea that many immigrants come over and steal the jobs of British. Yet many immigrants have a positive impact on communities, whilst paying tax and contributing to society as a whole- including my German grandmother and Swiss Grandfather. This is what Tory logic seems to be after the reveal of today's budget, to the opinion of many "lefties". BBC News showed a lady working part time whilst raising her children, who's left in tears due to the increase in tax and cuts to her credit, that helps her to feed her young children. Yet on the other hand, inheritance tax is lowered, so those inheriting vast amounts of money and property are allowed to keep the large sum, though often it's those of higher classes and wealth who inherit the most. Does this seem fair to you? What's your opinion on the Summer Budget 2015?

The old Pegasus Bridge, just outside Caen in Normandy. It was essential for British gliders to capture the bridge during the Normandy Invasions during the early hours of June 6th 1945. By cutting off access to bridge, Nazis could not bring in more soldiers to attempt to stop the invasion on the beaches that morning and therefore limited the chances of a counter-attack. Operation Deadstick as it was known, sent six gliders under the control of Major John Howard to capture the bridge. Five out of the Six landed within 47 yards of the bridge, and consequently the bridge was captured in 10 minutes. The first of many victories on D-Day!

I took this photo when I visited 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' last November at the Tower of London. It marked as a poignant reminder of the vast scale of deaths that came from the First World War. A true spectacular by Paul Cummins as a reminder of the centenary of the outbreak of War. I feel honoured to own one of these poppies that represents a single life lost at war.

One of my favourite cartoons by Will Dyson. Accurately predicting a Second Great War after the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty was seen by many as too harsh upon the Germans yet the French felt it was not harsh enough. Quite ironic how "1940 class" was so close to the actual date of WW2.
