13 victory WWI ace and Pour le Mérite (Blue Max) holder, Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps (NSFK/National Socialist Flyers Corps) Korpsführer and General der Flieger Friedrich Christiansen. He was a seaplane pilot of the Marine-Fliegerabteilung, the aviation arm of the Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial German Navy). He flew over 440 missions and on 6 July 1918 he surprised and damaged the British submarine HMS C25 in the Thames estuary, killing its captain and five crewmen. He was the first of only three naval aviators and the only seaplane pilot to be awarded the Blue Max

I just finished this book I really recommend it finished in 2 days it was that good. It's a shame it doesn't go into much details of the events right before Owen had to be treated for shell shock asides from what it's a well researched book
