It is hope and love and compassion that saves each character individually, and because of that, the world. Frodo fails in the end, but his acts of compassion from earlier in the story save the day. And even as the world is saved, it is acknowledged that Frodo failed—without judgement, without blame. He fails, and he is still loved.

And like what can happen in the real world, he is still irrevocably changed by his trauma. But there is still hope—he has to leave, but he leaves with the promise of healing, and the promise that his ever-faithful Sam will follow.

Aragorn, Boromir, Frodo, Sam; each and every one of the characters are driven by their love of the people around them and their hope for the future. They cling to that love and hope throughout their trials, and that bears them through.

Of course people are watching it for comfort!!!! Lotr is eternally consistent in its promise, which Sam articulates so clearly in The Two Towers: “Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it’ll shine out the clearer.”

Bad people exist on our side or can sneak into it with the right language. People can uptake awful ideas and internalize them. This includes outright predators (just look at Cesar Chavez for example, or Hakim Bey, or that guy that led the PSL). This includes engagement grifters who learned that rage and fear = clicks, and state propagandists from everywhere in the world (if you think the US is the ONLY propaganda machine, you'll be sadly disappointed and likely drawn in by whoever has the loudest and most strident propaganda against it). This includes people who've let their ethics/morals be determined by community vibe rather than a nuanced understanding of how the issue affects your own ethical principles and if it even does. This even can include you, yourself.

You need to be able to step back, look at yourself, look at the people you've found yourself surrounded with and be "this is too much, this has gone too far, this is ridiculous, this reminds me of a cult/the far right/whatever, and most importantly, this is hurting actual people, not just an abstract wider harm or making someone feel Offended." You also have to develop the skillset of abandoning binary thinking and going both "you are 95 percent correct but 5 percent wrong, but I can overlook that five percent because it's a nonissue in a wider perspective" and "you are 95 percent correct, but you are actively spreading bigotry/disinformation or doing harm on a personal level, and that is an absolute dealbreaker even if you're correct."

And you have to be capable of doing this even if it can make you lose said friends, even if it can make you seen as a pariah, even if it hurts to feel like you're the only wrong one, you're the shitlib/lazy person/wrong while everyone else is the True And Pure and Correct Way you just can't live up to (in fact, these feelings or this actually happening is a screaming red flag that you NEED to pay attention to)

If you don't read books: Read a book. Read any book. Read a book you loved when you were a kid. Read a book that interests you now. Read an entire collection of poetry or essays and think about why the author or editor arranged those works in that order. Read an erotic novel. Read nonfiction. Read graphic novels or manga. Read a kids' chapter book or a YA novel. Read a book digitally. Read a book on paper. Read an audiobook and really focus on it - if you notice yourself spacing out, scroll back to the last words you remember and try listening again. Read any book. And then when you finish it, celebrate for a minute (get those endorphins going!) and then read another one.

Technically no. There's no way to respond to this without introducing some bias in the results, and I don't want that. However, I do collect some data on a post as part of making it useful to me, and that data is easier to collect if the post is recent.

What if I request content label review on a post after I send it to you?

I need to see the mature content label to be able to use the post. Because the mature content label hides the content of the post, it is very hard to use a post that no longer has a mature content label. You could send me a screenshot, but people could use that to lie to me.

Basically, it's more work for you to make it usable to me.

This is one of those non-poem things that are among my favorite poems.

As the OP stated, the use of alliterative consonants is aesthetically just great, especially the placement of the strongest use at the end: “fuck him on the floor.” The use of “chintz” is indeed great word choice.

Because I’m insane, decided to scan the poem:

Not only is the second sentence, indeed, perfect iambic pentameter, the entire poem is perfectly metered, though the first sentence has four iambs rather than five.

There are further things I love about this poem, though: I like the casual connotations of “keep it real” juxtaposed with “chintz.” It causes me to interpret the “chintz” more strongly as meaning something fake, a facade. There is also of course the coarseness of “fuck,” which is a contrast with “chintz” but a different kind of contrast, gutsy and carnal where “chintz” is flimsy and inanimate.

And then there is the storytelling: there is SO MUCH storytelling in just these two lines. To break it down: The speaker is having sex with a married man, in the house he shares with his wife, which is “filled with chintz”—something that here connotes fakeness, in contrast with “keep it real.”

The illicit encounter in the poem takes place within a house filled with facade, the flimsy construction of the wife’s marriage and domestic sphere, but the encounter itself is a taste of something “real.” That’s a story, and it’s just two lines.

This is EIGHTEEN SYLLABLES, y’all. The amount of meaning condensed into these eighteen syllables is stunning, and it is so elegantly done.
