Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Worried about what to say?
Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. You will also get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.
Money issues?
Trans Solidarity Alliance provides a travel bursary that you can sign up for via the link.
Got a refusal or no response from your MP?
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).
A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).
Here is the Good Law Project's better explanation of the EHRC Code.
I have also made a PDF printout of QR codes for the government petition, email your MP tool, and mass lobby link to pass around your communities. DM me and I'll send it to you.

finally watched kpop demon hunters and while I reeeeally don't know that fandom (it crosses my dash sometimes) I can deffo see the fanfiction appeal of playing with the dynamics between a bad girl, an autistic people-pleaser girl, and an internally tortured main character girl
I will forever die on the hill that one of Florence's biggest influences and inspirations (and very rarely acknowledged because most music journalists don't see past the rigid boxes they put artists on) is Loreena Mckennitt. From the aesthetics, to the voice, the vibe, the music. They are truly mother and daughter. The arrangements of the recently released Chamber Edition of Everybody Scream just prove my point.
If you don't know Loreena check her entire discography because she is truly one of the greats, of all time.

vampire: ugh, you mortals simply can't comprehend the timescale i live on. i've watched your empires rise and fall, your cities crumble to dust. i find your short little lives amusing at best. i -
angel: HI, I HAVE BEEN ALIVE SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME AND I NOTICED YOU ARE ALSO SOMEWHAT OLD?
vampire: ...sure. hey what was the dawn of time like?
vampire: oh, man, i feel you. i slept through, like, the entire 14th century it was so boring. everyone was dying of plague and shit anyway so i didn't miss much.
Iranian photographer Hossein Fatemi, offers a glimpse of an entirely different side to Iran than the image usually broadcasted by domestic and foreign media. In his photo series An Iranian Journey, many of the photographs reveal an Iran that most people never see, presenting an eye-opening look at the amazing diversity and contrasts that exist in the country.
I see a lot of people reblogging, well-meaningly and with anti-war sentiment at heart, Iranian photographs and art and so on. But so much of it focuses on very exoticized imagery that, while a true part of the country - yes, there’s women in black chador and old men with donkeys in dust-bowls - also helps sustain the image of Iran as remote, alien, and already desolate (therefore, how much can life really change with a bit of carpet-bombing? Right?)
This is also Iran. Lounges and parties and rock bands and youth culture and skateboards and graffiti art and a lively hip hop scene and acrylic nails and a thriving, multi-faceted culture that the wide-scale destruction of infrastructure, hospitals, roads, industrial sites, etc, will devastate for decades to come.
i’m american, i would rather you americanise your fic
i’m not american, i don’t care
i’m not american, i would rather you americanise your fic
i have a different opinion (pls explain in tags!)
Voting ended onApr 8
trying to gage this - i personally think it’s unnecessary, as ao3 is not an american territory that im publishing into, but ive had comments before that lead me to think it takes people out of the story. let me know your thoughts! :)
by “americanise” i mean purely in terms of vocab/grammar, for example the use of em dashes is different (in the uk we use -, in the us you use —), or you guys would say “apologize” rather than “apologise”
i agree that if a story is set in america, i wouldn’t be writing “bloody hell” and using “pavement” instead of “sidewalk”. i do think there is some nuance there!
As a USian who recently attempted British narrator, I wanted to get the word choice right (housemate not roommate) but drew a line at adding an extra 'u' to words.
OP you don't have to dumb things down, it's a gift that fanfiction is global. Americans can stand to learn that things are spelled different in different places. I think they should cope.
Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor

It's really funny when people think Iran is a desert cause we literally have forests in the north?? The Caspian sea is right up there?? Buddy they're still shoveling snow in Sabalan lmaoo
i was gonna just leave this in tags but i felt i needed to add the picture: it's wild how people don't get how big iran is, obviously it's racism people just don't care and assume "ah must be a bunch of primitive desert huts" or whatever but like, imagine writing off this whole area as probably some desert because there's a desert in the middle and ignore the whole ocean and two mountain ranges and all the forests and whatnot like even if it was just as big as california that's pretty huge and diverse as climate and geography
[ID: screenshot of a tumblr post by user 'gamerkrillslair' dated January 1st. It reads "woke up in the woods this morning and walked to the store. Got there and my sleeve knife fell out and loudly impacted the floor. Everyone looked at me and all I could think to say is "im allowed to have this" and i quickly left. Im starting 2026 off awesome" the tags read "#first two sentences read like mountain goats lyrics.' /end ID]
The audio is a person singing a song in the style of the band The Mountain Goats. They are playing a guitar and the lyrics are mostly the same as in the above post.

Knowing (vaguely!) a handful of people in middle eastern countries at this point in my life, I am so sick of how US news talks about war. I know I am missing the real story (the people who actually live there). Some of them are relatable weirdos or relatives of people I care about. And I know enough to know I don't know shit about shit! I want to do a deeper dive into art and culture and film etc before we destroy more of it for no goddamn reason. It shouldn't be as easy as it is for USians to shelter ourselves from other people's reality.
Lots wrong with the current state of the internet but then I find myself chatting about new Mitski album with people I know on three different continents and I am grateful for that moment
