things i like:

PSYCHEDELIA! if it reminds me of being stoned or high on lsd i automatically like it. it's my number 1 priority. i like psytrance/psybient despite not being into electronic music in general (though i dont listen to it on a regular basis)

fuzz!!!! specifically meaning, heavily distorted electric guitar. i care a lot about texture in music and this is my favourite one. honestly if an album doesnt have an electric guitar that immediately reduces my interest by like 95%

loooong songs. if an album doesnt have a song over 8min my interest is diminished somewhat (but average song length across an album is also important). or just like, songs that aren't in a hurry to get anywhere, that gradually develop and unfold and build

vocals as texture. i prefer music that does have vocals but i like them to not contrast with the instrumentals too much. i like harsh vocals in metal a lot because of this, they're incapable of disappointing me compared to cleans. i love songs that only have vocals in a few places but are largely instrumental (like dimensional orbiter by iota or legend by elder)

heaviness :) i also like a lot of music that isnt heavy at all, especially stuff with an ethereal or sunny vibe, but super heavy doom metal fucking gets to me in a way nothing else does

i definitely prefer slow music over fast music, but i have my limits. i like funeral and drone doom but don't often have the patience for it

repetitive riffs! and riffs in general, but i really like the hypnotic, ritualistic quality of repeating the same rhythm over and over (especially seen in doom metal. some of my favourite bands like ufomammut, dark buddha rising, bomg, and sons of otis are very very repetitive and that's a huge part of why i love them)

things i dislike:

continuing from a point above, vocals and/or lyrics being the focal point. a song or album can have great vocals but if the instrumentation isnt interesting too im not gonna wanna listen to it. i really dont care at all about lyrics (unless theyre actually bigoted). great lyrics certainly enhance a piece of music (thinking especially of tool here) but its at the very bottom of my priorities

i'm also kinda picky with vocals in general, i especially dislike nasally and super high-pitched voices (sorry ozzy). i can withstand some albums with mid vocals if everything else is great but the entire genre of epic doom metal is unlistenable to me because of the operatic vocals. that also ties in with me not liking overly emotional, cheesy, or passionate vocals, it makes me uncomfortable (i can tolerate it much better in prog rock than in prog metal)

as mentioned, i'm not really into electronic music. it's too precise, too mechanical for my taste. it just doesnt have the same texture as physical instruments. nothing at all against it, i know some people get really stupid about electronic music. i actually liked a lot of dubstep and future bass and stuff when i was a teen and i think hyperpop is super cool conceptually, i just dont wanna listen to it lol

slap bass. really random mostly inconsequential thing but i listened to a whole bunch of funk metal once and i really hated the slap bass. also, funk metal, now that we're talking about it, i dont think theres a worse genre of music out there (sorry primus and mr bungle fans, but i genuinely don't understand what you see in them)

sad music, just generally. not a vibe i seek out

repetition, sometimes. it's a love it or hate it thing for me, i usually like it in my favourite genres (psych/stoner rock, doom metal) but often dislike it in pop music. repetitive instrumentals are generally okay, repetitive vocals can very quickly get very irritating (there's exceptions, i love lava and the dripping tap by gizz)
