Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.

My favorite part is the sink.

I can't remember who first told me about Swanson's, but they're a textile thrift shop that collects and repurposes donations of unused sewing supplies. Their physical location, The Stash House, offers community sewing resources and a studio. For non-locals (such as myself), their online shop offers fabrics, patterns, and notions. The shop restocks on Thursdays, and they have a constantly-rotating collection of items. If you like thrifting secondhand craft materials, Swanson's is for you!

Swanson’s Fabrics and notions are gifts from retired sewing stashes. They are the fabrics and supplies that sewers and fiber-artists naturally accumulate. I had a suspicion that the reason we all collect so much is that we didn’t have a place “good enough” to take it. So I made the place. Turns out I was right, and thanks to my community (and yours) of makers and crafters, I can resell these fine materials at a low, approachable cost. For fabric, I usually go to SR Harris, which collects a lot of deadstock* fabric and sometimes has amazing deals like the time I got Gore-Tex for $6/yd

A good online place is fabricmartfabrics.com which also collects deadstock and sells it for cheap. Also has great deals if you keep checking back.

well, one night a friend and i decided to jump in without bothering to check the water first. it was late, nobody else was around, and we figured it'd be fine.

it was not fine.

we hit the water and immediately realized we'd landed in what i can only describe as tadpole soup. i am not exaggerating when i say it felt like swimming through boba tea that was 70% pearls. every stroke meant hundreds of tiny, squishy little bodies slipping between my fingers.
