Hello! My name is Dusty. I use just my name, no pronouns. I am a disabled adult who uses a wheelchair, crutches, and an AAC device.

About Me
[PT: About Me]
I've made this blog as a place to talk about being disabled and how I use AAC. I use my AAC due to my selective mutism, hemiplegic migraines, and other disabilities. I use a home-brewed switch control when they limit my motor function. Before the onset of my selective mutism, I would have episodes of speech loss lasting from a few hours to a few weeks.
I've been using AAC since 2019. I usually use TD Snap, Proloquo4Text, and Make It Big on an ipad for functional communication.
I also have Proloquo2Go, LAMP, TouchChat, CoughDrop, WeaveChat, Chatterboards, and TalkSuitePro, though I don't use them to personally communicate often. I'm happy to answer any questions about them.
About This Blog
[PT: About This Blog]
This blog is mainly about things that happen to me around disability and AAC that I would like to share. It may also include access tools, as I have a special interest in them and have done a lot to make my day to day accessible to me.
I talk about my own experiences exclusively. Anything that I say is something that is true to/about me. If you disagree with an opinion that is okay. If you are rude to me or insult me, I will block you. If you call me names, I will block you.
If you need any of my posts to be reworded to make sense to you just let me know, and I'm happy to do that.

A Little More About Me
[PT: A Little More About Me]
I am not interested in listing all of my diagnoses. I have some genetic issues which have caused a lot go to wrong with my body.
What I am happy to talk about is my PTSD, autism, Tourette Syndrome, dystonia, and migraine/hemiplegic migraine.
I am also happy/open to talking about AAC, mobility aids, and access needs. I have a rigid ultralight wheelchair named Agent Smith. I have a degree in Inclusive Childhood Education and I am very passionate about anti-psychiatry.
I am also open to talking about my experiences as a seclusion/isolation survivor and medical/psychiatric abuse survivor.
I might say things about myself with 100% certainty sometimes, and talk about it with much less certainty other times. This is because I'm a system. It doesn't mean I'm lying or I change my story from post to post. It's just different alters. I don't plan on talking about plurality here.
I do not care about discourse and online arguments. I focus on what is true and happening in my local community instead of what people online say is important.
That said it does stress me out and at times trigger me. I will warn people in good faith when they bring a topic to me that I am uncomfortable discussing. If they keep bringing it to me, I will block.
