Porcelain. Kikimora Studio® Living Art
Not AI (as I first suspected), but a live performance.
And for anyone wondering how a Beast Machines Botanica might work in live action... well... here we are!
This is so wonderful and I love every single damn freak who wants to make odd and beautiful things happen live, in person. Yes. YES.
This is one slice of an incredible high resolution, enhanced color image of Pluto, recently released by NASA. You can see the full, larger version here.

At this point I've seen like three unconnected pieces of American media set in a superficially idyllic small town with a big fuckoff lake that functions as a liminal boundary between the Known and the Unknown and in which a major character attempts suicide by drowning, and now I'm wondering if the Liminal Death Lake is just a thing American small towns have.
Where I live we tend to have Liminal Death Hollers, and sometimes they do have lakes in them. Other times they have caves.
where a superhero has a friend who is their ride. like even the villains respect it, because the friend is like the most normal and nice person ever
“that’s claire, she drove me here”
*claire waves from a prius*
“will you need a lift back?”
“no, have fun on your date”
the being of interdimensional destruction:. c̗͎̲̲̞͍͚̓̏̑̀̍̎͡l̬̫̭͈̙̥͈̯͈̣͐̓͗͡͞à̗̱̻̱̤̪̳̍̈̓̉̈̾͗͜͡͡ͅi̶̹̙̯͕͈̱̖͗̈͊̉̿̔̒͠r̪̞͉̻̖͔̱̃́̆̽̂͑͂͘͜͟ȩ̴̡̘̻̥͚̣͐̉̏͆͠ i̢͈̣͙̼͒̑̌̃̈́͗̂͂̈́s̷̙̹͚̝͈̟̝̙̈́̇͋̀͋͂̌͘ d̛̻̞̥͇͎̝̰͐̽̒̄̓̂͟ä̴̬̝͈̼̩̭̦͓́̍̑͂̀̀̅̆̆͜͠t͎̼̭͍̜͍͂͌̍̏̚̚͞͡į̴͕̞̺̤̥̟̻̲̽͊̂̔̃͡ņ̴̢͔̹̫̲̮̩̃̈́͛̊̓͡͝g̛̪̗̜̝̹͉̠̞͉͂͂̀̉̽̇͊͢͝͡ ȧ͎̰̜̱̰͛͒̇̋͠g̴̢̞̳͈͇̩͈̻̃̎͑͆̈́̒̀͝ͅa̛̰̲̗̼̗̳̫̩̖͒́͒̔̃ǐ̛̺̗̯̰̳̟̣̓̿̐͛̋͊̕n̶͓̟͚̦̔̎̓̿̏͢͝͝?̵̺̬̜̝̗͖̣̑̏̂͠͠͠
#bonus points if claire has TERRIBLE taste#and the being is honestly concerned#which legit#so is the superhero#and instead of fighting#they have a serious discussion about whether claire needs an intervention#the being knows a REALLY NICE shapeshifter it could introduce claire to#only a LITTLE evil#and really very respectful of personal boundaries#and okay but like#the superhero says it’s not THEIR job to fight off any baggage#and so now the being is shadowing claire’s dates watching for trouble#and the superhero is shadowing the being#property insurance rates are falling for the first time in ten years#everyone is busy

You ever think about how by committing yourself so strongly to evil that you are in fact holding yourself to a moral code? And that by constantly sticking to your principles and code of ethics your actually walking your own moral high ground?
no and don’t try to advance my understanding of ethics via self-reflection ever again
It's all happening as it always must, just as she dreamed. One girl outwits her enemies and flees; another arrives in spring, seeking medical attention.
india is not a democracy anymore.
everyone needs to hear about the situation in india right now. the youth of this nation are going through hell and back to protect the foundations that our country was built on in the first place, while the adults who are supposed to actually be in charge try to silence our voices.
NEET, which is an exam taken by millions of students per year and is the ONLY gateway for medical admissions across the country, had its papers leaked. so many took their lives because this exam meant everything for their future. and NTA, the agency who conducts this exam, was not held accountable.
there was national backlash. cockroach janta party (initially a satirical political party formed by abhijeet dipke in retaliation to the remarks of the chief justice of india calling the youth "cockroaches" and "parasites of society") started protests at jantar mantar, demanding the resignation of the union education minister, dharmendra pradhan. the movement also asked for ten million inr (~100,000 usd) in compensation for the families of students who died by suicide and wanted NTA be held accountable.
sonam wangchuk, a climate activist and education reformer, also went on a hunger strike at jantar mantar to protest against this corruption in india's higher education system. his fast began on june 28, demanding the resignation of the union education minister. his fast lasted for 20 days until delhi police FORCIBLY removed him and admitted him to safdarjung hospital on july 18.
because of this, cockroach janta party announced "chalo sansad," a march to the parliament beginning on june 20th, 9:00 am ist. but the police seems to be responding with water cannons, mobile jammers, and baton charge. all of this, because of a peaceful protest led by people no older than 30.
and yet there has been absolutely no indian media coverage about a movement that spans the entirety of this nation. so, please, if you see this, keep talking about us. we will not let those old bastards stoop any lower than they've already had. we will not let them ruin our country any further. we will not be silenced
Please look it up. Students have been beaten bloody. They’re using electrified batons. They’re using batons with nails hammered in. They’re dragging people off and locking them up for no reason. People are being beaten, assaulted, and even molested by the police.
The government is doing everything it can except for actually having an honest dialogue with the protestors.
It’s important to note that despite all the police brutality, despite how the government has had extra forces airlifted to Delhi to help quash the protest, this has deterred no one.
Not only is the protest in Delhi going strong, the government closed down every metro station in Central Delhi in an effort to stop them and it still hasn’t.
There’s protests in most major cities in India in solidarity. Palakkad, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi, and probably more besides. There has been a protest in the UK as well in solidarity.
People who aren’t at the protest are donating so much food that the organisers have had to ask them to stop doing so because there’s more than enough. In lieu of that people are donating money for medicine, lawyers, cleanup, and umbrellas.
Most crucially, hopes aren’t broken. Spirits aren’t broken. People with bruises and broken bones are still showing up. People are showing up cosplaying as freedom fighters and super heroes and a dinosaur. People are doxxing goons who show up trying to incite violence. People are making reels. People in Mumbai literally opened a moving police detainment van to allow arrested students to escape.
*all links lead to Instagram posts or reels showing the same. Almost every major Indian news network has been bought and either ignores the protests or depicts them unfairly. All honest news comes from people on the ground and smaller independent news outlets.
feminist retelling shoulsnt be the woman does some girlboss shit femist retelling is she does the same stuff except u actually give a shit abt her perspective and thoughts and feelings as a human being this time

It’s weird how there are some American crops that I think of as wholly integrated into the world such that I occasionally (ungratefully) forget they’re American (potatoes, tomatoes, hot peppers). But then there are other American crops where I’m lightly surprised the rest of the world grows them or is even into them (sunflowers, maize/corn, peanuts).
The real point of this post being that, while obviously I’m kinda stupid, those indigenous American agricultural bioengineers were fucking geniuses. Endless series of absolute culinary bangers. We owe them everything.
That moment when I, as a Bulgarian, realized that tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, sunflower (oil) and corn are in fact not native to my country and were imported from the Americas. I remember that day. My heart shattered. Oh, and the irony of our nationalists accusing Turkey of "stealing our cuisine". My brother in Boiko, when did Europeans discover America and what empire were we under during that year and would continue to be under it for 4 more centuries?
I'm just imagining Italians seeing a tomato for the first time, they gently put olives away, tenderly grasp the Tomato and whisper to it with love
"You are my new best friend." Same happening with Poles and potatoes XD
And much of Asia responding similarly to peppers. I think the peppers loved Asia back just as much. A true love story.
#wait potatoes are native to America???? i thought they were Irish????
@disasterpenguin
Nope! Not Irish. The potato just produces a lot of calories per square foot of soil for growing it. So it was a big hit. (Note that it’s not more nutritious than bread, it just takes less land and labour than bread.)
Other things from the Americas:
Cocoa and chocolate
Beans (except soybeans, fava beans, chickpeas, mung beans, lentils, and peas)
Squash (except inedible Eurasian gourds)
Avocados
Sweet potatoes
Vanilla
Tobacco
Pineapple
Cassava/manioc
And some American critters:
Chipmunks
Raccoons 🦝
Hummingbirds
Skunks
Turkeys
Guinea pigs
Llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, etc.
Turkeys
On the flip side, things that are not native to the Americas include:
Rice
Horses, donkeys, mules
Cattle (so also dairy), pigs, sheep, and domesticated goats
Chickens
Large dogs
Cats
Rats
Earthworms
Pigeons, house sparrows, starlings
Wheat
Onions and garlic
Citrus
Bananas
Honey
Sugar
People always forget that every horse in the Americas came from Eurasia. Which may come from some idea that indigenous people in the Americas were… static, unchanging cultures? As opposed to the reality, which is tribes like the Lakota taking one look at these weird new animals and going “oh hell yeah” and doing horses so good it would make Genghis Khan shed tears of awe
i like to imagine how people in the post-material-scarcity future would romanticise the current time period.
having a job gave people a sense of community and purpose lacking in our modern age where nobody is forcing you to get out of bed on threat of starvation. actually the average office worker in the early 21st century was so much wealthier than a UBI-having-modern if you forget to count paying rent and also make some very bad purchasing power conversions. if you look at contemporary records (sitcom where the main characters are only at work when it's plot relevant) it is obvious that employment was never really a major obstacle to having an active social life or pursuing your own passions.
History majors from the future, aware we used to make everyone's work schedule the same instead of according to different circadian rhythms, gritting their teeth:
