Be warry of "neutral" people who are just one person pretending to inform you all by themselves. Information is something hard to handle. Reason why official journalists has a whole process to follow before writing and sharing an article. Follow real independent medias with people being honest about their goal, who they are and how they work (and for whom). Don't fall for the cult of personnality. If you look for informations about someone trying to "inform" you and it's hard to understand who they are and how to hold them accountable when they fuck up, run away.

Why is it important? Because the tweet "Jon de Lorraine" posted is missing crucial informations in my opinion, even though his alert is more or less accurate. He simply rase rage without giving tools. But if we want to take action, we need context. We need to understand the timeline. We need to understand who is doing what and when.

So here are the few informations I gathered: Controlling internet is something people of power are trying to do over and over again since many years. Last year (2025), the European parliament made a proposal for a new law called "the draft EU Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) Regulation" that has been called out under the name of "Chat Control" by a network of european associations (for my french fellas, "La Quadrature du Net" is part of this network). The 9 of July 2026, what they call "Chat Control 1.0" passed even though a majority of voting members opposed this regulation. For the association network mentionned above, it's a critical blow against democracy itself. They are now making a "Chat Control 2.0" and representative will have to vote for or against it in September 2026. I'm learning the details as I am writing this, and it's hard for me to make sure the informations is easy and accessible because I'm not a professional and I know very few things about all of this. All I know is that you can : learn more here Overall and from the informations I gathered, I think this law and the projects around it are dangerous. But the devil hides in details and we all should try to understand exactly what is going on when so much is at stakes. If you reach the same conclusion as me (this law project is dangerous), you can contact your representatives to ask them to stand against this project. For now, only one country in europe is against it, and it's Italy.

The second time we hear the leitmotif is in Return of the King, when Mount Doom erupts and Gandalf thinks Frodo is dead. But now the meaning is reversed; it's Gandalf who believes Frodo is dead. [3:00 of the first video, and the beginning of the second.]

One thing I haven't seen discussed very often is that this motif is tied to Frodo and Gandalf specifically--- and the way it develops mirrors the way their dynamic changes.

In FOTR, Gandalf dies sacrificing himself to protect the Fellowship, and Frodo is overwhelmed with guilt and grief. In ROTK, it appears that Frodo sacrifices himself to defend Middle Earth, as Gandalf is overwhelmed with guilt and grief.

In FOTR, Frodo is forced to confront that the even his powerful 'mentor figures' are still human, fallible, and able to be taken away from him; in ROTK, Gandalf witness the aftermath of Frodo destroying the Ring, proving that even this small unassuming hobbit can have this unimaginable capacity for strength and self-sacrifice.

Finally, the two of them journey into the Grey Havens together, because neither of them really survived.

In a way-- Frodo died in Mount Doom, as Gandalf died in Moria.

They've returned to life, they were called back. Gandalf was called back by forces "beyond thought and time," Frodo was called back by Sam's refusal to let go of him. But despite being recalled to life, they're permanently changed, transformed in a way that means they no longer belong in Middle Earth. They have to go across the sea.
