Merlin BBC Merlin they could never make me form a solid opinion about you !!! World’s bravest coward. The most loyal traitor. The most honest liar. The gentlest murderer. Destroys everything trying to avoid destruction. What a guy !!!!!!!
bbc merlin has a lot of faults but i do think the way they blithely ignored the existence of christianity was very funny of them
"#'old religion' they said. and then simply said nothing of a new religion" yeah Uther Pendragon, noted athiest. Entirely agnostic court. It's crazy that there's no belief system backing anything up. Like, we're going to get by on vague prophecies but also prophecies are magic which is evil. Divine right of kings but no divinity. Mirrors and mirrors but no windows.

nothing can break the bond between a friend who loves spoilers and a friend who just watched an amazing show and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
alternatively: nothing can break the bond between a friend who doesnt read and a friend who just read an amazing book and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
nothing can break the bond between a friend who cannot and will not watch horror but is still interested and a friend who just watched an amazing horror movie and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
Spin the wheel. That's who's trying to kill you.
Spin the wheel again. That’s who’s trying to protect you.
(If you have zero idea about a name you got, spin until you see someone you recognize.)
Are you safe?
Absolutely not. I'm dead. 100% dead.
I might stay alive, but it'll be a really close thing.
I'll take some hits, for certain, but I should be okay in the end.
A few attacks might get through, but nothing concerning.
The attacker might be able to get in one lucky hit. If that.
I am the opposite of worried. I'm 100% safe.
…Look. I've tried picturing this. But I honestly don't know how to answer.
(I've run this poll twice before, expanding it significantly for the second run. With about a year passed since that second run, I thought it was time to add another couple hundred names to the list and have another go.)

some thoughts on the jedi temple archives as a reading room, since the fanon portrayal of jocasta nu as dragon of the archives rubs me the wrong way. highly biased by the fact i’ve spent my entire professional career working in museums and public libraries. i'm stating these as fact but these are just my opinions and ymmv.
the jedi are a culture that values knowledge and the creation and dissemination thereof and would therefore (imho) prioritize information vetting, information accuracy and veracity, and access to information. the library/archive staff would be there to help vet info and provide access.
head archivist is not the head of the library or the archives as a whole in the real world. (when i worked at a university museum, the libraries had a dean. my public library has a president. when i worked at a historical society with a library and print room, there was a ceo above the head of the library department. even in a stand alone archive, the big boss is probably an upper level manager, not someone who works hands on with the collection.)
in the opposite direction, head archivist is likely managing workers more than working hands-on with the collection. (side note: where are the other librarians/archivists who work there? head archivist is way too busy to be walking the floor. even if the head archivist is doing hands on work, it's probably back of house work processing the neverending backlog or making sure the last database update implemented properly etc.)
librarians and archivists have different job descriptions and different priorities
no archivist or librarian that i've ever worked with has ever deemed their collection complete and authoritative (even when that collection is treated by scholars as authoritative)
conservation and access are sometimes at cross purposes. each institution makes their own decisions about which to prioritize. even within the same institution, individual curators/librarians/archivists would balance this differently.
i don’t need to put my mental disorders in my bio you can easily infer that there’s something wrong with me
What I wouldn't give to visit an art exhibition right about now
"queer-owned business" means nothing anymore. OpenAI and Palantir are both queer-owned businesses.
if this is how you find out that both sam altman and peter thiel are gay im sorry
I'm going to address a specific set of notes in this post (without indicating who wrote them) because it's a valuable insight into criticisms of this post. Also keep in mind broadly that this post is a JOKE it's supposed to be FUNNY. But also I'm not stupid enough to think jokes aren't a very effective way to communicate and persuade.
"This is like saying female-owned businesses mean nothing because J.K Rowling is a businesswoman". Incredibly, that's exactly what I'm saying. I applaud this critique for correctly identifying how my stance might be applied elsewhere.
But what I would ask is this: do you not remember how JKR (being a successful female author and businesswoman) was lauded as a feminist hero during the peak of the books' success which allowed her to make a large part of modern feminism incredibly TERF-y because of her influence? Because I think we should all do well to remember that.
Interestingly, this critique then goes on to make my entire point for me, albeit maybe slightly more charitably than I. It goes on to say "queer people are not a monolith" and that we should inform ourselves as to who owns these businesses. Yes! Yes! This is my point! Relying purely on identity politics to judge whether businesses (and people) are good or not is bad!
It closes out by saying big corps "don't count" when talking about queer-owned businesses. Honestly? Yeah, I agree. Most of the time, people are talking about small queer-owned businesses. That is because this post is a joke. I have applied the label of "queer-owned business" to some businesses the label is not usually applied to to point out the limits of identity politics in business.
Corporations are not your friends. Small businesses can be your friends, and they are closer to your level than Big Corporations - but that doesn't mean they always will be.

I was about to write: I love the fact that Katniss‘ first reaction to Haymitch‘s absolutely traumatising story is „You need some goose eggs. Goose eggs will help.“
And then I realised… She‘s mimicking Peeta. Peeta comes back to 12 and the first thing he does is plant primroses. And somehow… that helped her. So she‘s doing the same thing for Haymitch.
