another teacher grace moment i love is when rocky gives him the oxygen model he goes 'i dont have one of these thank you!' like that is THE most teacher response ever when a child gives them something utterly incomprehensible but made with love

When I was younger, I read in a cookbook that many high-caliber French restaurants will test potential new hires by asking them to make an omelet. And now, years later, every time I flub an omelet I'm like, "Sacre bleu, if I was a fugitive of the law with no choice but to seek a new life working in French food service, I would not survive! These are very normal thoughts for American woman who has never taken a culinary course."

Incredibly charming to think about the translation assumptions around profanity being made by Dr. Ryland "what the fudging fudger" Grace and Rocky "everyone agrees he is swearing up a storm" the Eridian. What a beautiful duo to make first contact.

They ALMOST clear it up one day when Rocky asks Grace "What is fudge question?" but tragically the answer "Oh, it's a kind of food" sounds appropriately vulgar to Eridian sensibilities, setting them back months on realizing the misunderstanding.
