if you are doing any kind of design meant to reach large numbers of people, download a colorblindness filter (i use CVSimulator, its pretty simple and free) and use it religiously
When I took a web design class years ago, our professor made us download a browser extension to check the accessibility of the webpages we made.
I don't do web design anymore, but I still have it. The WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation tool.
It would check your fonts, image descriptions, color palates, etc. and inform you if anything needed changing. Biggest thing it would get me for was not having enough contrast between text and background colors.
