Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 28 — Tuttle Bottoms Monster
On August 6th, 1963, Sheriff James L. Thompson ran into a young man with a rifle in a swampy area north of Harrisburg, Illinois called Tuttle Bottoms. The man told Sheriff Thompson that there was a monster on the loose. He described it as approx. 8 feet long, 4 feet tall, hairy, and said that it had a long nose like an anteater. The sheriff sent the man home but later ran into a dozen more teenagers who were also hunting for the creature. More sightings were reported in the following years, most from hunters and farmers in the area and teenagers who liked to use the lonely swamp as a make-out spot.
Gary Crabtree, former Police Chief of Harrisburg, claimed to have received over 50 reports of this strange creature over his 28 year career.
