It’s that time of the year again
And if the senior predeceases the pet, it’s cared for. Good on yer!
A win for the pet and seniors!
This is WONDERFUL & it would be fanstastic if rescue groups across the world would follow the lead of PAWS. The group is located in the state of Washington: https://www.paws.org/adopt/seniors-for-seniors/#hours.
More Weird Shit I Found in the Woods™.
Geometrically-challenged child cultists should have stuck with the triangles.
Is this real life Dipper Pines?
“oh look. Another mysterious stone path in the woods. 3 guesses where this leads.”
(at the end of the path)
“Listen. I know everyone wants to summon a demon at summer camp. I get it, I really do! But if you’re gonna try that shit just… put some effort into it. I mean look at this shit. IT’s just…It’s not even symmetrical. And look at this egg thing. It’s wildly disproportionate to the rest of it. It sucks! It objectively sucks! If I were a demon and I saw this, I would actually be offended. Try harder, kids. Try harder.”

someone should add one of those vintage “you tried” star memes in the shape of this
Like this?
Why does this person look and sound so much like a cartoon character???

New Sketch-a-Wish voted on my wonderful Patreons for January! Featuring Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows!
Who’s ready to see scene this in live action? 😩✨🧡👀
Sometimes it is your fault.. Sometimes you don’t listen well enough, you’re selfish, you’re rude and you aren’t always right. Sometimes you fucked it up and tbh that’s okay. It happens, learn from it, apologize and keep it moving. Just because you fucked up doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. Don’t dwell on it
no but this is so important.. it’s so important to just accept you can fuck up you’re allowed to fuck up. you’re allowed to be wrong and it won’t be shameful, it won’t be the worst thing to happen. you’ll either let it go or learn from it and not let it happen again and that’s good.
Wanna punch a Nazi?
Can’t help you there, but you can do something in solidarity with Jewish people.
It’s disgraceful that the McMinn County Board of Education in TN banned Maus, a Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novel about the Holocaust tha
Apparently you have to be in the US for this one. But if you’re not, you probably have followers who are, so…boost?
Maus is one of the most important literary works of the twentieth century for its look at the Jewish experience of the Holocaust. "Never again," begins with the stories of victims and survivors. When we ban books like Maus, we build a high-speed racetrack to another Holocaust.

Scientist bakes sourdough bread with yeast derived from 4500 year old Egyptian pottery
i'm losing my mind @ this thread......historie......
also please note that this scientist is in fact the retired man who invented the xbox.
oh fuck i listened to a podcast that was interviewing him and the process he went through to make this bread, ologies with allie ward like he went through full on clean room levels of prep to ensure that this was 100% yeast from old egypt and had to bend over backwards to ensure everything involved was uncontaminated he then revealed that the original xbox logo...
is a sourdough boule
legend still has it that the man continues catching things for his wife for all eternity.
So I work at a video game store in a mall and across the hall from us is this really nice suit shop. One day one of the guys came in an asked if they could use our microwave (the store they used to go to closed down) and we bargined for use of their bathroom in return since the mall bathrooms are like a 5 min trek.
So for like three months now we just have these men in really nice suits come in and talk while using our microwave and teach them about nerdy shit? Then I, the goblin king in various shitty tee shirts and paint stained pants, walk into their super expensive store and just get greeted with “Yo dude what’s good?” and talk about the pains of steaming silken dress shirts properly and it’s my favorite business interaction every day
A new jewelry store opened up right next to our store and when I used the bathroom today we were talking about it. I hate it on principle (they flooded our systems closet during building) and immediately both Suit Guys™ working went on mini rants. “Their suits are baggy as hell, I wouldn’t trust them to sell me a $9,000 ring when they can’t get a fitted jacket. They look so unprofessional, ” and “I saw one of the dude’s wearing a teal shirt. It’s fall, and you go with teal? At least get a color to match your store if you’re gonna ignore the seasons like that, Christ, but teal is awful.”
I live for this commentary fam.
#flower shop/tattoo artist au is out #suit shop/nerd store au is in
I feel the need to add a story to this? My co-worker brought his longboard to work, and one of the suit guys reminisced on how he used to ride pretty often. So Co-Worker and I were like, “Dude, go give it a spin, who cares, this mall is huge.” He was nervous about it because there are mall cops on segways everywhere (with helmets, like bruh, full on Paul Blart) and he was worried he was gonna get caught, and eventually we made a bet that he could ride down to Macy’s and back (it’s like a straight shot). So dead ass, this man hung up his jacket, took a running start, and zipped down the hallway with his tie in the breeze.
He evaded the mall cops and claimed that was, “One of the biggest rushes he’s ever felt.”

How can a disease with 1% mortality rate shut down the United States?
Franklin Veaux - updated 6 hours ago, professional writer
There are two problems with this question.
1. It neglects the law of large numbers; and
2. It assumes that one of two things happen: you die or are 100% fine.
The US has a population of 328,200,000. If one percent of the population dies, that’s 3,282,000 people dead.
Three million people dead would monkey wrench the economy no matter what. That more than doubles the number of annual deaths all at once.
The second bit is people keep talking about deaths. Deaths, deaths, deaths. Only one percent die! Just one percent! One is a small number! No big deal, right?
What about the people who survive?
For every one person who dies:
19 more require hospitalization.
18 of those will have permanent heart damage for the rest of their lives.
10 will have permanent lung damage.
3 will have strokes.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to chronic weakness and loss of coordination.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to loss of cognitive function.
So now all of a sudden, that “but it’s only 1% fatal!” becomes:
3,282,000 people dead.
62,385,000 hospitalized.
59,076,000 people with permanent heart damage.
32,820,000 people with permanent lung damage.
9,846,000 people with strokes.
6,564,000 people with muscle weakness.
6,564,000 people with loss of cognitive function.
That’s the thing that folks who keep going on about “only 1% dead, what’s the big deal?” don’t get.
The choice is not “ruin the economy to save 1%.” If we reopen the economy, it will be destroyed anyway. The US economy cannot survive everyone getting COVID-19.
THIS THIS THIS
And that’s not even talking about how many widows, orphans, and single parent families a 1% death rate will create.
How many more people are dying of non-covid illness because they’re either choosing not to get treatment or there aren’t any beds?
How many households are going to lose their primary breadwinner?
How many disabled people are going to lose their caretaker?
How many couples are going to divorce after losing a child?
How many senior citizens are going to have to move to a nursing home after losing their spouse, or their adult child?
And that’s just personal dynamics. Consider the social.
How many kids are going to drop out of high school rather than repeat a year?
How many kids won’t be going to college because they don’t feel safe on campus?
How many students are deciding against nursing school because they figured out long ago that no amount of clapping is worth getting assaulted by a maskless patent’s family demanding horse dewormer?
How many teachers saw parents spitting on their colleagues at PTA meetings and decided this was their last year in the classroom?
This isn’t something we bounce back from like a recession or a bank failure. This is an atom bomb: this is going to be felt for GENERATIONS.
"The US economy cannot survive everyone getting COVID-19" and yet the attitude with omicron is 100% "everyone's going to get it."
It’s that time of the year again
