Rhetorical dogwhistles are things that most people would not be able to identify as bigoted because they're INTENDED to have plausible deniability.

The wording changes are meant to be subtle enough that people really can mix them up accidentally when they don't have much information!

So when the gender critical movement calls trans women "transwomen", they're hoping for 2 things.

this usage will spread enough among people who don't know any better, to give transphobes the plausible deniability of not LOOKING like a frothing bigot constantly.

the usage grammatically places trans women in a different category than other women; it's changing "trans" from an adjective to part of a noun to make this distinction.

The more we can avoid this usage, the less deniability have transmisogynists have when using it, and the less rhetorical ground we cede to the degendering and misgendering of trans women.

I think it'd be really funny if Eric was actually a younger brother. So, like, maybe he's a duke, actually, but he still gets the title of Prince. I CANNOT see without these things.

I have spent the past four hours frantically calling around and searching to see if any nearby eyeglasses business has an in-store lab and would be able to make me new ones same day, because if i don’t have functional glasses then i cant even do my job. I’ll have to call out on the grounds of not being able to see my computer screen.

I am about to travel 45 minutes into town to a lenscrafters to see IF they can do it for me, because they couldn’t tell me over the phone whether they even had my prescription in stock. If they can’t do it, then i am completely FUCKED and cant do jack shit until possibly the weekend, maybe longer. Maybe an entire week. or two.

Like, i cant read, can’t draw, cant play games on my fucking phone, can’t watch TV. Cant drive, so can’t get groceries. Plus, when i dont wear my glasses, my vision is so blurry that it gives me a migraine near instantly.

Literally all I will be good for is to lie uselessly on the fucking floor and cry. And it’s too late for that because i am already well onto my third cry session over this. and that is saying a lot because i am not one to ever cry about anything. i will cry perhaps once or twice a year and that’s it.

Today though i have cried A Lot and i know i will cry some more, because i am totally helpless and can’t FUCKING see for shit.
