Really funny to me the phenomenon of people latching onto a very commercialized work with conventionally safe and attractive designs, taking those designs and extrapolating them to the point they would be if they weren't being made to cast as wide a net as possible, people getting vicariously attached to those fan interpretations, and then going to the original work to be profoundly let down when they realize that the thing they were actually drawn in by was the sexual fantasies of deeply desperate lesbians.

Like idk I feel like at some point some legislation needs to get passed mandating all these artists put a big disclaimer saying "WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS WERE DESIGNED AND WRITTEN BY CISHET MEN. PROFESSIONAL THIRSTER ON CLOSED COURSE, DO NOT ATTEMPT AT HOME".

saw a post letting people know that your ao3 bookmarks are viewable on your account unless you make them private, which suggests that the median ao3 user does not use ao3 in what i will call 'the optimum fic-finding treadmill' where you find a fic author you like and look through their bookmarks to find more fics that are good and then look through that author's bookmarks for even more good fics. like a conga line of great but extremely specific tastes. or one of those chessboard rice doubling analogies and oh no that is a LOT of ao3 tabs.
