I think part of why I'm dragging my feet with deltarune is that its release style puts the pacing far more in the game designer's court than other turn based RPGs I like such as golden sun or classic FF games and so instead of saying "Oh! I should get all the dark crystals and eggs while I'm at it!" I huff and sigh as I say "I guess I have to do a new playthrough where I get all the dark crystals and eggs so I can catch up and get to experience as much of the game as I can first-hand." and also the Deltarune Fandom assumes you chug the whole chapter 100% all fights all secrets normal route weird route friend route and post 7 shitzillion spoilers like 2 days after the chapter comes out.

To be fair, sometimes it's more along the lines of "our goblins have exactly the same stereotypical traits and propensities as their Dungeons & Dragons counterparts, but the text awkwardly tries to spin those as virtues".

(My personal favourite is "yes, our goblins do break into people's houses and take everything that isn't nailed down, but they're not thieves, they're just immutably genetically programmed to be absolute socialists and are literally incapable of grasping the concepts of privacy or personal possessions no matter how it's explained to them".)

I'm still disturbed by that comment about someone wanting my fursona to breed black babies into them to make nazis mad but tbh this highlights a certain conversation about racial fetishization of black people and bodies within progressive spaces, framed as inherently bold and badass when you're just as racist as the white guy dreading about "the great replacement theory"

both sides of the same coin, it's very racist and I'm gathering from my experiences that these racist white people fetishize not just the black body but the idea of black domination and triumph over antiblackness and bigotry. it's their ultimate anti racist fantasy.

and don't get me started on it hyper-masculinizing black bodies too because my sona was drawn in a bikini expressing his gender non conformity. it's really racist and dehumanizing.
