i am so so so so bored out of my mind and cant decide on which book to read. have read most HH books so you see that's half of my problem. is there a sister of battle or mechanicus book that DOESNT stink of ... the god emperor sctick .
tldr chaos gal try dipping toes into imperium, fails, dies
xoxoxo <3
You’re going to get God-Emperor themes to some degree if you go reading about Sisters of Battle, my dear chaos girlie. That’s how they operate. That said, for Sororitas specifically, I’d recommend Requiem Infernal by Peter Fehervari. It’s a horror novel about an isolated Sororitas order letting outsiders in, and then shit starts happening. I won’t overexplain or spoil it. At the least, you won’t be bored out of your mind.
As for Mechanicus, maybe give Dominion Genesis by Jonathan D. Beer a go. Digs into the psyche of the Admech a little. Not bad. Additionally, Day of Ascension by Adrian Tchaikovsky is a Genestealer novel that really underlines how the monstrousness and inhumanity of the Mechanicus allows the Hive Mind to exploit it more easily.
As for more Imperium-critical Imperium content generally, Steven B. Fischer’s Broken Crusade and Witchbringer novels deal with the Black Templars and the treatment of psykers respectively, and all of the unpleasantness therein. Really good books.
And, because I must recommend them as much as possible; Nate Crowley’s Twice-Dead King novels and the Severed novella will, at the least, help with your boredom, and at the most get you into Necrons. Severed is short, good starting point. All excellent.
So, hopefully something in here will sort you for a bit. Good luck!
And if you like Day of Ascension, I can thoroughly recommend the rest of Adrian Tchaikovsky's books.
