As you may already know that anything high on the glycemic index, anything high in sugar increases insulin & insulin blocks fat burning. ✅ EXERCISE. 5 Tips To Break A Keto Plateau TIP: 1 CHANGE CALORIES. You simply can’t keep eating the same amount of calories over a period of time & expect to keep losing weight. Cut your calories down by 200 ever 2-3 weeks while decreasing the amount of dietary fat. TIP 2: INTERMITTENT FASTING. Eating too frequently can also create plateaus, especially if the person is sedentary. Although the keto diet mimics some aspects of fasting, such as low blood sugar, low insulin & elevated ketones, it’s still not as effective as actual fasting. Try fasting using the 18:6, 20:4 or OMAD (1 meal a day). TIP:3 LIMIT ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS. Artificial sweeteners can be an alternative to actual sugar but they’re still not ideal for long term health. One of the more dangerous substances like aspartame, acesulfame K & sucralose are linked with diabetes, gut dysbiosis & brain cancer. Yikes! Of course, you’d have to be consuming like 10 diet beverages every day for years to have these effects but they’re still not going to help you with weight loss that much. TIP 4: REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF “KETO APPROVED” FOODS. The same applies to ’healthy low carb keto approved foods. These foods are so delicious that you can’t even believe they’re keto. Eating foods with a lot of flour, artificial sweeteners, & other over-stimulating ingredients make it much easier for you to over-consume them. TIP 5: DON’T RESTRICT CALORIES TO LONG. The body doesn’t want to lose fat because it’s valuable for survival. That’s why you want to avoid metabolic adaptation that occurs because of dieting for too long. To prevent this trap, you want to lose the fat faster & stop dieting quicker. AVOID THESE 5 NIGHTTIME HABITS* 1️⃣ PICKING AT FOOD. A really bad habit people have when prepping dinner is that they pick at their food & other snacks. This is a bad habit that’s easy to understand, If you’re really hungry and you can smell the aroma of delicious food cooking your gonna start grabbing random things & eating them. There’s two potential solutions for this problem. The first one is to only allow yourself to eat seated at the table. This can definitely help some of you but it does involve willpower so an even better solution would be to have meals prepped in advanced. 2️⃣ SLEEP. Whether your just lying around mindlessly scrolling through netflix, playing video games, or twiddling your thumbs, your more likely to want to fix your boredom with food. Go to sleep. 3️⃣ ALCOHOL. The next bad night time habit you may have is drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages too often. It’s one thing to have a glass of wine on weekends or one night per week, but if you’re kicking back a couple glasses of wine every night you’re in trouble. 4️⃣ SNACKING. I know so many people that try to curb their late night cravings with things like frozen yogurt, trail mix bars & weight watcher brownies. DON’T DO IT! 5️⃣ EATING TO FAST. 4 KETO CHEAT DAY RECOVERY TIPS There are many ways to do keto. There is Strict Keto (no cheating), Targeted keto (small amount of carbs before & after workouts) & Cyclical Keto (cheat on weekends). Some people LOVE cyclical keto where they cheat on the weekends. Now that I’ve reached my goal of losing 70 pounds in only 7 months, I usually will cheat on Sunday. With that said, there is a down side to cheating on keto. When you have a cheat meal & you eat carbs, you spike insulin which then reacts to store glucose. You now end up with a low blood sugar situation. This is when the hunger sets in, the cravings start, & other negative effects like anxiety happen. Of course, when you eat carbs, you will feel better...but...not for very long. Soon after the carbs, you’re left wanting more & more. You’re also depleting a lot of essential nutrients.
